Big thank you to .huangfu for reviewing how to scan our clients’ visual systems and reinforcing the importance of integrating vision into physiotherapy to improve balance, movement, and coordination. πŸ‘€πŸ’ͺ🏼

It’s increasingly common for physiotherapists to assess visual function, interpret findings, support clients through targeted strategies, and know when to refer to appropriate medical professionals. As a Physiotherapist, Fascial Stretch Therapist & Movement Educator, MQ’s guidance & experience helps strengthen our skills and clinical reasoning in this area. πŸ’™πŸ‘€πŸ‘πŸΌ

Key takeaways from our education session on Vision Therapy & Physiotherapy:

βœ… Your eyes are an extension of your brain β€” made from the same tissue and part of the central nervous system. 🧠

βœ… 80% of movement input comes from vision β€” depth, distance, and motion guide balance; closing your eyes often reduces stability.

βœ… Peripheral vision keeps you safe β€” central vision is for detail, peripheral vision is for awareness and quicker reactions.πŸ‘οΈβš‘

βœ… Posture and vision influence each other β€” slouching strains eye alignment; vision issues can shift head and neck posture.

βœ… Brock string trains eye teamwork β€” improving depth perception and movement confidence.πŸ‘πŸΌ

βœ… Eye exercises can β€œwake up” your core β€” activating the visual, neck, and balance systems to steady the trunk and enhance coordination.πŸ”₯

🌍🧠 On World Stroke Day, we celebrate the resilience, recovery and strength of stroke survivors. Meet Emily - a young stroke survivor whose journey inspires us every single day! ✨

"I'm Em, and I had my stroke 3 years ago- at just 26 years old. As a young, active elementary teacher, it was the last thing I ever expected or could have prepared for.

My whole life was flipped upside down in minutes, and with the support of family, friends and my physio team I've learned the true power of community, healing, and not feeling alone.πŸ«‚πŸ«ΆπŸΌ

Through my recovery, I've learned patience and the importance of giving my new body some grace. Setting small goals throughout rehab has helped me grow physically, cognitively, and emotionally.

Life will throw us curveballs- but with resilience, patience, and finding the right community of people by your side, your potential is endless. πŸ’ͺ🏼

Sending love to all my fellow stroke survivors today. You are stronger than you know, and when you don't feel strong, just know you are not alone." β™₯️

At the root of our scoliosis session with little friends (and we promise even grownup friends) is laughter, joy and finding balance. Find what motivates you & despite stumbling, you will recentre and reach your flamingo...whatever that may be for you...align, breathe, elongate....repeat!πŸ©·πŸ™ŒπŸΌπŸ¦©

We’re thrilled to share a special moment from Neurocore Physiotherapy! πŸ’™

Through a meaningful connection between our physiotherapists and Parasports Ontario, four long-term wheelchair users from our clinic were selected to receive an incredible gift: Companion, a power wheelchair add-on device designed by Cheelcare.

From all of us at Neurocore, thank you to Cheelcare, CSRO, and Richmond Hill Mobility Accessibility Foundation for your generosity, and congratulations to the four incredible recipients whose journeys just gained new momentum. 🌟πŸ’ͺ🏼

✨ A big congratulations and best wishes to two incredible members of our clinic family!

πŸ‘πŸΌ Justyn N– from volunteering with us 4 years ago to now completing the full circle as a Physiotherapy graduate from U of T! We are so proud to see your dedication and hard work come to life in this milestone.

🌍 Romena B– as you head off to Ireland to begin medical school, we’re cheering you on as you take this exciting next step in your journey.

Your time with us has been filled with kindness, compassion, and commitment, and we can’t wait to see the amazing impact you’ll both continue to make in healthcare. πŸ’™

What do balancing chips on your back, bear crawling uphill and K-Tape have in common? They were all part of a playful educational session lead by MQ on fascinating core musculature facts!

Top 5 Takeaways:

βœ… The diaphragm isn't just for breathing β€” it has 3 important "tunnels" running through it:

πŸ«€Aorta β€”> carries blood out from heart
🍽️ Esophagus β€”> carries food down to the stomach
πŸ’™ Inferior vena cava β€”> carries blood back to the heart

βœ… Have you looked at the alignment of your rib cage? πŸ€” If the base of your ribs are pointed forwards or backwards, it could affect your diaphragm function.

βœ… On average, we take about 25000 breaths every day β€”and our diaphragm is the unsung hero behind them all. It not only supports breathing, but also helps shape our posture and spine alignment.

βœ… Your diaphragm is part of your core team β€” working together with the pelvic floor, deep abs, and back muscles to keep your spine stable.

βœ…If your hips feel tight or stiff, check your diaphragm mobility β€” and if your breathing feels shallow, your hip flexors (psoas) might be the culprit.
