Last week we went for Stella's first dental appointment with her vet. Her teeth had been discoloured since we adopted her just before her second birthday. Because she was a nervous dog. It took a while before her teeth could actually be looked at by a vet. We (Alex) stepped up our teeth cleaning game. She got chews, teeth brushing and we even added something in her drinking water to help.
After the first exam, we were cautioned about giving her hard chews. So, no more Himalayan Yak Chews, Bully sticks reduced and forget about bones and Antlers. Good thing we did that.
X-rays revealed some concerns with teeth, and one was not viable.
Our girl is a nervous girl, so getting her in so that the could sedate her was a process. Her vet, the vet techs, and staff were beyond patient, kind, and compassionate. They prepared us, explained everything thoroughly, answered questions, accommodated us and gave Stella the time she needed.
We were exhausted after, but the next day, Stella bounced back, but she wasn't impressed with the soft diet that she will be on for 14 days due to the extraction.
5 days later, other than clean teeth, soft diet and no vigorous playing, you would never know she had an adventure at the vet last week.
I am so grateful that everything went well.
Nancy Welch Thank you, for connecting with Stella and sending Reiki. It takes a village 💚🐾
