What should I wear?

We’ll provide everything you need for the treatment but if you feel uncomfortable un******ng in any capacity, you can wear clothing that is comfortable, stretchy and loose enough to roll up sleeves and pant legs. You can opt to bring a change of clothes if you prefer but we will keep you covered and warm throughout your treatment. Your comfort is important to us.

Are there any side effects from acupuncture?

The most common side effects I have encountered in the clinic are mostly positive – a relief of symptoms, improved sleep, better digestion, improved energy, a sense of well-being and relaxation and improved immune function. Negative side effects are rare but can happen. These include bruising at the site of the needle insertion, soreness or sensitivity at needle areas, a worsening of symptoms before they improve. If any of these happen, please contact us right away so that we can give you advice on what to do. Usually a follow up treatment quickly resolves these issues.

How many acupuncture sessions will I need?

The number of sessions you will need depends on the condition and severity of your issue. Acute problems can be resolved in as little as one or two treatments whereas chronic conditions may need a course of four or more treatments to get significant results.

Is Facial Acupuncture for Everyone?

It would probably be more helpful to list the few situations where facial acupuncture is not recommended since, for the vast majority of prospective clients, it is a safe and beneficial treatment, not only for prevention of wrinkles, but also the reversal of the customary signs of aging.

A few situations where Facial Acupuncture may not be recommended:
- Severe high blood pressure (it is okay when the blood pressure is under control and the patient is seeing a medical doctor).
- Severe migraines (if the migraine occurs only once every 3 months or so, they can receive facial acupuncture treatments).
- Be aware that it takes 3 weeks to recover from laser resurfacing of the face. Needling is not advised during this time; a week is needed after microdermabrasion.
