October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) — a time to celebrate the talent, creativity, and resilience that people with disabilities bring to Canada’s workforce every single day.

More than 1 in 4 Canadians has a disability — yet too many still face barriers to finding and keeping work. When workplaces remove those barriers, everyone benefits:
✅ Stronger innovation
✅ Higher productivity
✅ A more inclusive, resilient economy

This year’s theme — “Inclusive Employment Across Canada: Building a Workforce Without Barriers” — challenges us to reimagine what’s possible when every person has the opportunity to contribute and thrive.

Let’s not make inclusion a one-month message. Let’s make it a year-round movement. 💪

Can you believe wheelchairs used to look like this? From large chairs that required attendants to help people with disabilities move around to those with hand cycle propelling systems, the wheelchair has taken on many looks over the years. You can learn more about the history of the wheelchair here: https://www.braunability.com/us/en/blog/disability-rights/wheelchair-history.html

ID: A black and white digitally sketched photo shows a man pushing an old wheelchair. The wheelchair has three wheels, a sun shade, and an upholstered interior.
