Today, we remember.

On this Remembrance Day, we pause to honour all who have served and sacrificed in times of war, conflict, and peacekeeping. Their courage and commitment have shaped the freedoms we enjoy today.

We also recognize the many paramedics, dispatchers, and first responders who continue to serve their communities with that same spirit of dedication and compassion.

At 11:00 a.m., we remember — and we give thanks.

Today, we honour National Indigenous Veterans Day.

We pause to recognize and remember the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis veterans who proudly served and sacrificed for Canada—often in the face of discrimination and without the recognition they deserved.

Their courage, resilience, and contributions to peace and freedom will never be forgotten.

We thank all Indigenous veterans, past and present, for their service and for the strength they continue to bring to our communities.

Paramedics and dispatchers see first-hand how mental health, cancer, and preventable illness impact men in our communities. This month, we’re joining the global movement to raise awareness and encourage early check-ups, open conversations, and support when it’s needed.

🔴 Poppy Season Begins 🇨🇦

Starting today, Friday, October 31, Canadians across the country will begin wearing the poppy — a symbol of remembrance and gratitude for those who have served and sacrificed.

Wear your poppy proudly on the left side, over your heart, as we honour all who have worn the uniform and those who gave their lives for our freedom.

Our thoughts are with the Dawson Creek firefighter who was seriously injured while responding to a motor vehicle incident this week. We understand he was struck while working on the side of the highway and required transport to a higher level of care.

On behalf of nearly 6,000 Ambulance Paramedics and Emergency Dispatchers across British Columbia, we extend our heartfelt support to him, his family, and the entire Dawson Creek Fire Department.

Thank you for the work you do — day and night — to keep your communities safe. We are standing with you during this difficult time.

🔴 When? The official period runs from the last Friday in October (this year it is October 31st) until Remembrance Day (November 11).
📍 How? Pin it on the left side, over the heart. If no lapel is available, wear it as close to your heart as possible. See image attached for details.
🕊️ It’s a simple but powerful symbol of gratitude for our Veterans and their sacrifices.

In 2010, we lost Paramedic Unit Chief Jo-Ann Fuller and Ivan Polivka in the Line of Duty. Today, we remember them, their families and coworkers that they left behind, and we honour the sacrifice they made.
