Did You Know?
Cold and Flu Season Is Here!
As the leaves fall and the air turns crisp, respiratory season begins. In Ontario, respiratory viruses like influenza, COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2), RSV, and others circulate most between November and April. Preparing now helps protect yourself and those around you.
Did you know there are simple steps you can take to stay healthy this season?
✨ 1. Get Vaccinated
Annual flu shots are recommended for everyone 6 months and older. Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines as advised.
✨ 2. Practice Good Hygiene
Wash your hands often for 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
✨ 3. Stay Healthy
Eat well, stay hydrated, and keep active to support your immune system.
✨ 4. Monitor Your Health
Pay attention to early symptoms like cough, fever, or sore throat. Stay home if you're feeling unwell and seek medical advice if needed.
✨ 5. Create a Healthy Environment
Ensure good airflow indoors—open windows when possible or use air purifiers.
✨ 6. Avoid Crowded Spaces
Steer clear of crowded, enclosed, or poorly ventilated areas when you can.
✨ 7. Be Prepared
Keep essentials on hand—tissues, hand sanitizer, over-the-counter medications, and basic groceries.
✨ 8. Stay Informed
Keep up with local health updates throughout the season.
By taking these steps, you can help protect yourself, your loved ones, and your community during the fall/winter respiratory season.
