Common Sense Defense for Women

Common Sense Defense for Women Teaching a Common Sense approach to women's self-defense—practical, effective, and empowering strategies to stay safe. 💪 LOL. Just kidding.

Recently retired from RCMP after 15 years. Born and raised in PEI. Four sisters and one brother so I got beat up a lot growing up. My Mom is my role model and rock. I have wanted to do this course since I started at Depot and can now put my complete focus and attention in helping women feel more confident and free from worry.

Confidence isn’t about where you are.

It’s about how you move.

When you’re out for a run or a walk, your safety doesn’t change based on the setting.

Even in your own neighborhood… awareness still matters.

And here’s what I see all the time…

Headphones in.
Music up.
World off.

That’s a problem.

You don’t need to give up your routine…
but you do need to stay aware of what’s happening around you.

Keep the volume low.
Stay alert.
Pay attention to movement, sound, and distance.

You don’t wait for something to feel wrong.
You stay aware before it ever does.

Move with confidence.
Stay aware.
Move prepared.

Confidence isn’t about where you are.

It’s about how you move.

When you’re out walking your dog, your safety doesn’t change based on the setting.

Whether it’s your own neighborhood or somewhere unfamiliar… awareness still matters.

Too many women think, “I’m just out for a walk.”

That’s when routine takes over.
And that’s when awareness drops.

Head up.
Pay attention.
Know who and what is around you.

You don’t wait for something to feel wrong.
You stay aware before it ever does.

Move with confidence.
Stay aware.
Move prepared.

Confidence isn’t about where you are.

It’s about how you move.

When you’re at the barn, your safety doesn’t change based on the setting.

Whether it’s in your backyard or you’re at a business… awareness still matters.

Too many women think, “I’m safe here.”

That’s not how it works.

You don’t wait for something to feel wrong.
You stay aware before it ever does.

Move with confidence.
Stay aware.
Move prepared.

When you hear a car alarm going off… what do you do?

Nothing.

You assume it’s a mistake.
You ignore it.
You keep walking.

So why would you rely on your car horn to save you?

Ladies… your voice is far more powerful.

Be loud.
Be direct.
Be clear.

That moment could be the difference between being ignored…
and being helped.

One million views.

This one hit 1 million on TikTok, and the message is simple.

Blind spots matter.
Distance matters.
Awareness matters.

Some of you saw this and said, “I already do that.”
Others said, “I never even thought of it.”

That’s exactly why I do this.

Awareness and knowledge change everything.

You’re just getting cash. Something you’ve done a hundred times before. It feels routine, normal, nothing out of place.

Then your instincts kick in.

Someone is too close. You feel it before you even fully understand it.

That moment right there matters more than most people realize. A lot of people will hesitate, second guess themselves, or try to be polite. And that hesitation can be the difference.

In situations like this, you don’t rise to the occasion, you fall back on your training… or you fall back on nothing at all.

Awareness is what gives you that edge. Confidence comes from knowing what to do before something happens.

Think about it… what would you do?

Ladies, it’s Friday, Dose of Reality time.

I keep getting asked why I don’t teach men to stop doing this to women.

The truth is, if a man is doing this as an adult, there’s nothing I’m going to say that’s going to make him stop in that moment.

There is no magical phrase that changes that.

We can talk about change all day, but when you’re being harassed or attacked, you’re the one dealing with it.

The responsibility in that moment is on you.

There is no hero coming to save you.

You have to be your own hero.

What I teach is awareness, boundaries, and knowing what to do in dangerous situations.

My focus isn’t on men. It’s on you.

Take care, stay safe.

Whether you're working late at night or heading out early with your morning coffee, your routine should never replace your awareness.

Confidence is how you carry yourself. Awareness is what keeps you alert. Preparation is what keeps you safe.

No matter the time, no matter the place, you are still in control.

Take care, stay safe.

Confidence isn’t just how you walk. It’s how aware you are of what’s around you.

It’s knowing where you are, who’s near you, and trusting that instinct when something doesn’t feel right.

Because confidence without awareness can be taken advantage of.

But when confidence and awareness come together… that’s where real safety begins.

That’s when you walk prepared.

If you’re walking with someone you care about, would they know what to look for?
