Postpartum Tip:
You might think wipes are made for babies bottoms so they won't bother their skin, but new babies skin is so delicate that in the first week or so anything other than just water can cause irritation. Bring a bucket of warm water to your changing area or make a changing area in your bathroom. Use a wet cloth, paper towel or even just rinse out a wipe with warm water before you use it. Use a mild soap sparingly only when really needed. Also diapers and laundry soap can sometimes irritate your babies skin especially in the first few months.

Pregnancy Tip:
Set up a designated space to write down questions for your pregnancy care provider when you think of them, so they are easy to take with you to your appointment. It's so easy to forget all your questions during an appointment if they aren't written down.

There may be more to induction than you have been told. Always ask about: benefits, risks and alternatives to suggested/ "required" medical procedures.

Too many pregnant women who can't enjoy their last days or weeks of pregnancy due to intense pressure to induce just because of the date. Induction is optional. "Informed choice" is almost unheard of because the conversation almost always covers the risks of not inducing without covering the risks of induction or what it looks like.

Induction rates are on the rise. Here's an excellent article from a researcher and birth worker friend of mine. (Yes, we realize induction of labour does have its place.)

I'd like to share a trick I learned from my husband on getting our baby to sleep when nothing seemed to be working. He would scratch baby's bum especially around the tight parts of the diaper and also their back and more often than not they would soon be asleep. some other things that helped for us were: a bath before bed, fresh air before bed, white noise, watching when they fall asleep for when they are in a deep sleep to put them down (usually about 1-5 mins after eyes close), swaddling/ making sure they are a comfortable temperature, gripe water/ burping and of course nursing. what are some things that have worked for you?
