Today I would like to expand on the benefits of the "Lions Mane Mushroom" There are so many wonderful healing agents around us when we sit down and look. The earth really did provide us with what we need to heal. So today I'm going to share another one with you. The more you know! Below is a picture of my Lions mane kit I ordered and its progress so far!

1. Could protect against dementia
Lion’s mane mushrooms contain compounds that stimulate brain cell growth and protect them from damage caused by Alzheimer’s disease. However, more research involving humans is needed.
2. Helps relieve mild symptoms of depression and anxiety
While there are many causes of anxiety and depression, Chronic Inflammation could be a major contributing factor.
Animal research has found that lion’s mane mushroom extract has anti-inflammatory effects that can reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression in mice.
Other animal studies have found that lion’s mane extract can also help regenerate brain cells and improve the functioning of the hippocampus, a region of the brain that processes memories and emotional responses
One small 2010 study of menopausal women found that eating cookies containing lion’s mane mushrooms daily for 1 month helped reduce self-reported feelings of irritation and anxiety
3. May speed recovery from nervous system injuries
Brain or Spinal cord injuries can cause various adverse medical outcomes. They often cause paralysis or loss of mental functions and can take a long time to heal.
However, research has found that lion’s mane mushroom extract may help speed recovery from these types of injuries by stimulating the growth and repair of nerve cells .It may also help reduce the severity of brain damage after a stroke

4. Protects against ulcers in the digestive tract
Two major factors typically cause stomach ulcers: overgrowth of the bacteria H. pylori and damage to the mucous layer of the stomach that’s often due to long-term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
Lion’s mane extract may protect against the development of stomach ulcers by inhibiting the growth of H. pylori and protecting the stomach lining from damage
Another 2013 animal study found that lion’s mane extract was more effective at preventing alcohol-induced stomach ulcers than traditional acid-lowering drugs — and without any negative side effects.

5. Reduces risk of heart disease
Research shows that lion’s mane extract can influence some of these factors and reduce the risk of heart disease.
Studies of rats and mice have found that lion’s mane mushroom extract improves fat metabolism and lowers triglyceride levels
One 2010 study of rats fed a high fat diet and given daily doses of lion’s mane extract showed 27% lower triglyceride levels and 42% less weight gain after 28 days
Since obesity and high triglycerides are both considered risk factors for heart disease, this is one way that lion’s mane mushrooms contribute to heart health.

6. Helps manage diabetes symptoms
Diabetes is a disease that occurs when the body’s ability to manage blood sugar levels is impaired. As a result, levels are consistently elevated.
Chronically high blood sugar levels eventually cause complications like kidney disease, nerve damage in the hands and feet, and vision loss.
Lion’s mane mushroom may be beneficial for diabetes management by improving blood sugar management and reducing some of these side effects.
Several animal studies have shown that lion’s mane can cause significantly lower blood sugar levels in both normal and diabetic mice, even at daily dosages as low as 2.7 milligrams (mg) per pound (6 mg per kg)

One way that lion’s mane lowers blood sugars is by blocking the activity of the enzyme alpha-glucosidase, which breaks down carbs in the small intestine
When this enzyme is blocked, the body is unable to digest and absorb carbs as effectively, which results in lower blood sugar levels.
In addition to lowering blood sugar, lion’s mane extract may reduce diabetic nerve pain in the hands and feet.
In mice with diabetic nerve damage, 6 weeks of daily lion’s mushroom extract significantly reduced pain, lowered blood sugar levels, and even increased antioxidant levels
7. May help fight cancer
In fact, when lion’s mane extract is mixed with human cancer cells in a test tube, they cause the cancer cells to die faster. This has been demonstrated with several types of cancer cells, including liver, colon, stomach, and blood cancer cells
In addition to killing cancer cells, lion’s mane extract has also been shown to slow the spread of cancer.
Another 2014 study found that lion’s mane extract was more effective than traditional cancer medications at slowing tumor growth in mice, in addition to having fewer side effects
8. Reduces inflammation and oxidative stress
a 2012 study examining the antioxidant abilities of 14 different mushroom species found that lion’s mane had the fourth highest antioxidant activity and recommended it be considered a good dietary source of antioxidants
Several animal studies have found that lion’s mane extract reduced markers of inflammation and oxidative stress in rodents and may be especially useful in managing inflammatory bowel disease, liver damage, and stroke
9. Boosts the immune system
Animal research shows that lion’s mane mushroom can boost immunity by increasing the activity of the intestinal immune system, which protects the body from pathogens that enter the gut through the mouth or nose
The immune-boosting effects of lion’s mane mushrooms are very promising, but this area of research is still developing.

Animal studies suggest that lion’s mane mushroom and its extracts are very safe, even at high doses. However, allergic reactions in humans have been reported, so anyone with a known mushroom allergy should avoid it.
Who should not take lion's mane?
Auto-immune diseases such as multiple sclerosis (MS), lupus (systemic lupus erythematosus, SLE), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), pemphigus vulgaris (a skin condition), and others: Lion's mane mushroom might cause the immune system to become more active, and this could increase the symptoms of auto-immune diseases.

Sunday Random Knowledge

I remember one day I had a really bad cold. I mean this was before the COVID era. A friend of mine suggested I eat a garlic clove. I thought “ I like garlic but that sounds terrible”. I did as instructed though and the next day my cold symptoms had been cut in half. I powered through another clove the following day and by day 3 my cold was gone. When I first started taking it for that purpose I would try all sorts of different remedies because the thought of just eating one garlic clove raw grossed me out so bad. I tried putting it in honey (Which actually isn’t too bad) . There came a time though that I was just taking it, chewing it even and moving on with my day. Garlic is a herb that most have in their kitchen. The fresher the better. I personally go to No Frills in town and buy there packs of pre peeled garlic. I take it home. I drizzle some celtic salt in it and I grind it up. I fill a small mason jar and I freeze the rest in snack baggies for cooking later on. I know some don’t like it. Some are maybe even allergic but if you're able to eat it, O the benefits it has. As with anything you do want to use it in moderation because nobody wants to walk around smelling like a giant garlic bulb but a little a day can have endless benefits.

excellent health-promoting and disease-preventing effects on many human
Wards Off Cough and Cold. Raw garlic has the potential to ward off cough and cold infections.
Good for Cardiac Health.
Improves Brain Functioning.
Improves Digestion.
Balances Blood Sugar.
Boosts Immunity
Improves Skin Health
Prevents Cancer and Peptic Ulcer.

One of my favorite things to do with garlic is to stick it in some tinfoil with olive oil and celtic salt and bake it. By the time it's done it just squeezes right out of its casing and makes the most delicious addition to potatoes, soups, Toast etc.

Sunday Random Knowledge
A very interesting herb/spice that has become more popular in the herbal world is Cayenne pepper. This spicy little treat packs a lot of health benefits. Not to be confused with chili powder as they are not the same thing. Cayenne pepper has been known to help with cold symptoms as well as heart issues. It has been linked to weight loss help as it raises the temperature of the body slightly which allows a high calorie burner. The jury is still out on the weight loss benefits but when a study was done those that look like cayenne pepper lost 6 % more fat compared to those that took a placebo. Barbara O’Neil has multiple videos on the benefits of this herb that I found really interesting. Cayenne pepper may help the circulatory system. It may help control blood flow, and ease symptoms of Raynaud disease helping blood flow. It may also strengthen the heart, arteries, capillaries, and nerves. It may act as a tonic. This is merely a short point form version of the many benefits. If I have intrigued you then I encourage you to do more research and see if it can help you with you or your loved ones ailments
Capsaicin, an ingredient in cayenne pepper, may help with
relieving pain
managing weight
easing itching
reducing inflammation
treating colds and congestion
protecting the nervous system
To make a home remedy that includes cayenne pepper for cold symptoms, a person could try the following:
Combine 1/4 teaspoon (tsp) of cayenne pepper, 1/4 tsp of ground ginger, 1 tablespoon (tbsp) of honey, 1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar, and 2 tbsp of water, then take the mixture by the teaspoon.
Mix cayenne pepper and apple cider vinegar into hot water, making a tea, to clear the sinuses.

Who should not take cayenne pepper?
People with ulcers or heartburn should talk to their provider before using capsaicin. Eating too much capsaicin could cause stomach pain. People who are allergic to latex, bananas, kiwi, chestnuts, and avocado may also have an allergy to cayenne. Eating cayenne in food is considered safe during pregnancy.

Random Sunday knowledge!

What is Calendula oil?
Calendula, or Calendula Officinalis, is the marigold plant. It is a member of the Asteraceae/ Compositae family along with chamomile, daisies, sunflowers, chrysanthemums, dandelions, goldenrod, coneflowers, thistles, artichokes, and dahlias.
The Calendula flower is orange or yellow, edible, and loaded with a variety of skin benefits. Calendula oil is made by soaking the flowers in a carrier oil (such as olive oil, jojoba oil, or coconut oil). The oil can be used on its own or as an ingredient in ointments, balms, creams, or lotions. It can also be produced in tincture, tea, or capsule form.
The active ingredients of the calendula flower are naturally occurring chemicals, such as triterpene saponins (oleanolic acid glycosides), triterpene alcohols (α-, β-amyrins , faradiol), and flavonoids (quercetin and isorhamnetin). The sun-protective effect of topical gel formulations of Calendula is thought to be associated with improving collagen synthesis in the skin

Calendula Is Anti-Inflammatory
Calendula has anti-inflammatory properties and can help calm redness and inflammation and ease skin discomfort. Calendula can provide some relief from conditions like eczema or diaper rash.
Calendula Moisturizes Your Skin
These are the times your skin needs a little extra help by way of a good moisturizer that aids in repairing its barrier from pollutants and other outside factors.
Calendula contains fatty acids that help to moisturize and hydrate your skin. That means calendula can help you kick dry skin to the curb!
Skin hydration contributes to radiant skin every day!
Calendula Is Healing
“calendula is healing,” not just referring to the fact that it’s hydrating and soothing and all that. It actually aids in wound healing!
In fact, recent research showed that using calendula ointment increased skin healing time in women who’d had c-sections.
But the great thing is that you don’t have to be dealing with a major wound or surgery like a c-section to benefit from calendula. It’s healing for small wounds to the skin — like bug bites, blisters, and little cuts — too!
Calendula Is Gentle
We’ve mentioned that calendula is anti-inflammatory, hydrating, anti-aging, and promotes wound healing through antioxidant and antimicrobial properties.
But what we love most about calendula is that it provides all those benefits while being extremely gentle on your skin!
It’s so gentle that it’s safe for babies as well as folks with sensitive skin . That’s why you’ll find calendula in products like diaper cream, baby lotion, and those for adults with delicate skin.
Calendula Is Natural
One of the reasons we love calendula as an ingredient in skincare products is that it comes straight from nature. And we believe that nature knows best.
Because of this, opt for all sorts of natural goodies, like coconut oil, Aloe Vera, sunflower seed oil, shea butter, jojoba oil, olive oil, and so much more.
But it’s important that your skincare products contain more than natural, beneficial ingredients like calendula and all the rest. You’ll also want to be sure that they are free of certain questionable chemical ingredients.
I sell 4oz jars of Calendula salve for $20. Try one today and see the benefits and everyday use. Especially with kids!
