This week's Thursday's Lyrics is another amazing song from Netflix's hit show, Kpop Demon Hunters! This song, called "Free", expresses the hardships one can face while feeling locked away and suffocated, and how truly wonderful it is to shake off those oppressive chains and truly be free. It is a soul-stirring anthem about the human spirit's ability to overcome any obstacle, including one from within.

This week, our Thursday's Lyrics is going to be a bit different. You see, the song chosen is usually selected due to its meaning or because of the music, lyrics, or intention it conveys. This week, we are changing up the gears as it is already October 2, and what better way to celebrate the start of Spooky Season than a rock song being performed for four teenagers, a priestess, and a boatload of spirits in the middle of the night, all while in the middle of an exorcism? The song is called "Hunting Soul" by HAYASii, voiced by Marc Hudson, the lead singer of the real-life band Dragonforce, and is performed in season two of the anime DAN DA DAN, which is described below. Welcome to Spooky Season, everyone!

Based on the popular manga by Yukinobu Tatsu, DAN DA DAN is an electrifying, action-packed love letter to sci-fi and horror with the heart of a ruthlessly funny teen rom-com. DAN DA DAN follows Momo, a high school girl from a family of spirit mediums, and her classmate Okarun, an occult geek. In this new arc, Momo and Okarun set out on their latest adventure, traveling to a hot spring town, to the home rented by Jiji, Momo’s childhood friend and former crush, intending to solve the mystery surrounding his family. When they arrive, strange locals derail their investigation before it can properly begin, and the group soon learns there’s more lurking under the surface of the town than they could have imagined.

The next song was chosen because it holds a great deal of meaning for me personally, and I know many others share this sentiment as well. I chose it because of that. The song for Thursday's Lyrics this week is "How Do I Say Goodbye" by Dean Lewis, who wrote it after his father was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. Thankfully for him and his family, his father went into remission, but many families are not so fortunate as to be granted that extra time with a loved one. Several people I know personally lost loved ones without the chance to say goodbye. I think that this song is very fitting, as even if you did know and had that chance, really, how would you say goodbye?

This week's Thursday's Lyrics is "Mama, I'm Coming Home" by Ozzy Osbourne, but this version is a cover by Ayla Chan.

This song was done as a heartfelt ballad dedicated to his wife Sharon and expresses his gratitude for all her support during his struggles with addiction and chaotic lifestyle. It's a personal song about returning to her after a period of being lost and finding solace and redemption. Essentially, the song speaks to finding one's way back home physically, emotionally, and mentally after a period of being lost or struggling.

In fact, the song was so ingrained with his feelings for Sharon that the title itself is actually also a reference to his pet name for her.

Rest in peace, Ozzy Osbourne, the Prince of Darkness.
