Michael Singer is one of my favorite healers. The practice of letting go, responding instead of reacting is ongoing for me. He taught me to do it in traffic. Do you ever feel road rage? I haven't mastered it yet but I am definitely better than I was and more aware when I'm doing it. These are a few of his episodes from his podcast. I'll share the link in my story. Worth a listen!

I think you can apply his thinking to social media as well. If you notice you are becoming agitated when scrolling, it's time to practice letting go... moving on... and finding other options to fill your feeds. Be mindful and selective about what you ingest digitally friends.

Be careful.
Do not engage.
Protect your inner peace.

Last night before bed I scrolled social media; it's a bad sleep habit I am trying to break. I'm usually pretty good at what I ingest digitally but last night I slipped up and read a few "newsy" posts and it was awful news. My heart goes out to those involved in such violence. 💔

I didn't sleep well and I woke up to these thoughts. Repetitive and loud; I feel as though they need to be shared.

Be careful. Be careful that you do not become what you hate.

Do not engage. Do not engage in the slinging of hateful words.

Protect your inner peace. Stay grounded and do the things that fill your heart with love and peace.

This post is being brought to you by the number 9!

In Numerology, the number 9 represents completion but not finality; the ending of one cycle for another to begin. In November, the studio celebrated 8 years and moved into year 9. When year 9 is completed, it will be time for a new cycle in my life to begin. I have made the decision not to renew the lease at the end of the year. It wasn't an easy one. I have spent a lot of time considering this decision and there were many signs that it was the right one. The most obvious one to me is the number of petals on my logo. As I was enjoying the morning sunshine in the studio one day, I took a moment to look at the logo on the window and counted the petals. Huh... I counted them again just to be sure and well, as you see above, there are nine. I sat with that for a few weeks and came to the decision that it was going to be the right time.

Now you may be wondering why I am letting y'all know so far in advance? Because I just don't think I could keep it a secret! I am a planner and as much as I would love to say I have a plan in place already for what comes next, I do not. I do plan the last class with me as owner to be a Winter Solstice Celebration on December 20th. Sometime over the next 333 days, a plan will come about as it is meant to be! Until then, it's business as usual and I hope to see you soon!!

Did anyone start a Dry January challenge at New Year's? How you doing?? 🤔

I don't recall ever doing one myself honestly. When started changing my relationship with alcohol, it was February 25th of 2018. The night before was a disastrous debacle of debauchery! Jack & I had quite the night 😳🥺

This was the beginning of the end of my relationship as it was. I went 54 days without then jumped off the wagon to celebrate my birthday.

My next dry spell started on January 27th of 2019. Not sure why I chose that date but 75 days later I jumped off the wagon again to celebrate my birthday!

It was the third dry spell that really changed my relationship. It began January 2nd of 2020. I had one last Bailey's & coffee for breakfast on the 1st and went 108 days completely dry. On day 109, celebrated my birthday. Slightly different than the last two times. Yes, I had a few drinks but there was no disastrous debacle of debauchery! It was a fun spring afternoon celebration in the backyard with family and friends.

The first two times, I didn't notice anything different in my body. It was that third time of just over three months that I really felt it. From then on, I didn't take dry time into consideration because I didn't need to. My drinking was less and less each week. Now I might have a drink once in awhile.

I figured out my why. I found other ways to deal with it. It hasn't been easy but it is definitely worth it. The more research I do on alcohol and it's affects on my body, the less I want to indulge.

Socially it has been the most challenging part. Not drinking in a society that promotes drinking for what seems like every occasion was tough. My tolerance for being around others drinking is pretty low so I don't frequent bars as often as I used to and if I do find myself in a situation where there's a lot of consumption, I don't stay long. Alcohol can turn people you love into people you don't even like. And it can feel very lonely at times.

FREE FRIDAYS!

Offering yoga for free is something I talk about often and I have promised to offer Free Fridays this year. There is a small catch (or two) though for you to enjoy this free class offer...

You must have a valid class pass package. (either a 5, 10 or 20 - not a monthly pass)

You must attend another class in the same week. (Monday - Sunday)

There is only one class offered on Friday, Sunrise at 8:30 am, so it may not work for everyone all the time but I hope when you can join you do!
