Rencontrez Audrée Cormier, l'une de nos boursières 2025 et future médecin du N.-B. !

Ville d’origine : Dieppe (Nouveau-Brunswick)
Établissement : Centre de formation médicale du Nouveau-Brunswick, promotion 2029

Audrée est une étudiante de première année en médecine à l’Université de Sherbrooke (CFMNB). Elle est titulaire d’un diplôme en sciences de la santé de l’Université de Moncton. À la fin de ses études, elle souhaite entreprendre une résidence en gynécologie et obstétrique.

Audrée a assumé plusieurs rôles de leadership à l’Université de Moncton, notamment à titre de membre du comité organisateur du banquet de fin d’année de la Faculté des sciences. Dans ce rôle, elle était responsable de la promotion de l’événement ainsi que de la coordination de son organisation. Elle a également fait du bénévolat comme assistante à l’enseignement de la danse chez Dance Chaos Dance.

« Le Nouveau-Brunswick fait face à plusieurs défis en matière de soins de santé, notamment un manque de personnel et des difficultés d’accès dans certaines régions. Je souhaite contribuer activement à améliorer ces enjeux en offrant des soins accessibles, humains et adaptés aux besoins locaux. »

Meet Adam Beckett, one of our 2025 scholarship recipients and future N.B. doctor!

Hometown: Saint John, New Brunswick
Attending: Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick, Class of 2026

Adam is a fourth-year medical student attending Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick. He holds a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Chemistry from Mount Allison University and a Master of Science in Chemistry from Dalhousie University. Upon graduation he hopes to begin a residency in Pediatrics.

Adam is extremely engaged in his community as a member of the DMNB Pediatrics Interest Group, Dalhousie Medicine Film Society, Dalhousie Medicine Peer Mentorship Program, and the Walk with a Doctor program. He also greatly enjoys spending time outdoors and has even worked as a canoe instructor for various summers.

“I’m excited about the idea of practicing medicine in New Brunswick because it means working in communities where you truly get to know your patients and their families. I want to build those lasting connections and be part of a healthcare team that understands and cares about the unique needs of this province.”

Meet Andreea Pena, one of our 2025 scholarship recipients and future N.B. doctor!

Hometown: Saint John, New Brunswick
Attending: Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick, Class of 2028

Andreea is a second-year medical student attending Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a Minor in Biology from Mount Allison University. Upon graduation she hopes to begin a residency in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.

Andreea has made a lasting impact on the Saint John community through her volunteer work as an assistant cook at Harvest House Atlantic: Shelter and Community Care and as a greeter for Canadian Blood Services. Along with being a dedicated medical student, she is also a successful businesswoman having co-founded RubyCases, which has been featured in both Cosmopolitan and Buzzfeed.

“I genuinely love being a medical student and considering my deep roots in this province, I am confident that I will pursue a career as a physician in New Brunswick upon completing my residency.”

Rencontrez Katarina Laevski, l'une de nos boursières 2025 et future médecin du N.-B. !

Ville d’origine : Campbellton, Nouveau-Brunswick
Programme : Centre de formation médicale du Nouveau-Brunswick, cohorte 2027

Katarina est une étudiante en troisième année de médecine à l’Université de Sherbrooke (CFMNB). Elle détient un diplôme en sciences de la santé de l’Université de Moncton. À la fin de ses études, elle souhaite entreprendre une résidence en urologie ou en médecine interne.

Katarina a occupé de nombreux rôles de leadership au sein de la communauté du CFMNB, notamment à titre de représentante de la cohorte 2027, d’ambassadrice du CFMNB auprès de l’Association des étudiants en médecine du Canada atlantique, ainsi que de directrice des délégués à la Conférence des étudiants en médecine de l’Atlantique. Elle nourrit également une passion de longue date pour le soccer et continue de consacrer du temps, malgré un horaire académique chargé, à pratiquer ce sport de façon récréative et compétitive.

« Malgré la charge de travail importante et les longues soirées passées à étudier, mes dernières années en médecine ont été marquées par une passion grandissante pour cette profession. Que ce soit en apprenant sur des maladies rares, en découvrant comment bien traiter les patients ou en passant des journées à l’hôpital, je suis toujours enthousiaste à l’idée d’en apprendre davantage. »

Meet Julia Bent, one of our 2025 scholarship recipients and future N.B. doctor!

Hometown: Miramichi, New Brunswick
Attending: Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick, Class of 2026

Julia is a fourth-year medical student attending Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Medical Sciences from Dalhousie University. Upon graduation she hopes to begin a residency in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.

Julia has recently gotten involved with Zoomers in Balance, a new program started by healthcare professionals in Saint John that aims to reduce fall risk in elderly patients. She has also continued her extensive involvement with the DMNB Family Medicine Interest Group. In her free time, Julia enjoys staying active through biking and yoga.

“New Brunswick is home for me. It’s where I want to grow, raise a family, and give back. Becoming a family doctor here has always been my dream—and this year, it’s started to feel less like a dream and more like a plan.”
