Join us for an open and compassionate discussion aimed to help parents navigate conversations with children and adolescents regarding body-image. This webinar aims to shed light on important elements of these difficult conversations such as: Why these conversations are important, how to foster a supportive space as parents, special considerations to ponder, and societal/cultural impacts of body-image to be cognizant of.

These conversations can feel overwhelming for parents as there is no manual, however this talk will cultivate an open discussion of aspects to keep in mind to promote the overall well-being of youth.

Space still available! Grief impacts everyone differently and children, who may be experiencing grief for the very first time, might have difficulty understanding and expressing the full impact of their loss. Parents and caregivers may struggle to know how to support the children in their lives as they move through their own process of grief.

Heartstrings is an interactive and supportive group for grieving children ages 6 to 12 who have experienced the loss of an immediate family member or close friend. Within this small group format, grief-related art projects, play activities, and other therapeutic tools will help children make their way through their grieving process while remembering and honouring their loved one. Children will learn invaluable life skills for dealing with emotions and find healing in a safe and supportive environment. 🎨

Nearly two in five kids say they feel anxious about climate change — describing feelings of sadness, uncertainty, and powerlessness.

River’s Edge psychologist Chelsey Wood spoke with the St. Albert Gazette about how climate change is affecting youth mental health and what parents can do to support their children.

On our blog, Chelsey shares how listening, validating, and helping kids find small, meaningful actions can turn anxiety into agency.

Space still available! Sometimes it is hard to “like” ourselves, never mind “love” ourselves. That is because we experience so much pain, suffering, and disappointments throughout our life that make us feel unworthy. We desperately crave to be heard, seen, understood, and accepted. That is human nature.

The path to self-acceptance, self-awareness, and self-growth can be hard and complex. But as Brené Brown says, “Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we’ll ever do.”
Our hope for you is that through this 6-week group, you will be welcomed with honesty, compassion, and collaboration to learn the skills needed to help build your self-esteem.

Over the course of the 6 weeks you will learn about:
* Self-compassion and why it is so important
* Skills to help you put self-compassion into practice
* Guilt and shame, and its impacts on your life
* Ways to build or rediscover an identity you can be proud of
* Building self-respect through assertiveness
* Disrupting your negative thinking patterns
* Moving away from body objectification, to body positivity…
* …and the revolutionary power of gratitude

Why attend this group?
Because “You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.” -Buddha
