Join us for a seminar to explore what happens when we “see red” and rationality leaves the room. In these moments of emotional hijack, the body recalls past experiences while the mind reacts to perceived threat, often leading us into patterns of reactivity rather than reflection.

This workshop weaves together insights from neuroscience, mindfulness, and body awareness to help participants recognize early signs of activation, calm the nervous system, and find choice in the heat of emotion.
Grounded in self-compassion, the session emphasizes the power of the compassionate pause: a mindful space of self-understanding that allows us to respond with clarity, care, and intention. 💚

✨ February is Boost Your Self-Esteem Month! 💙

A time to nurture your self-worth, embrace your strengths, and practice self-kindness. Remember — small steps like self-compassion, positive self-talk, and celebrating your progress can make a big difference in your mental well-being.

✨ This month, we’re excited to offer The Compassionate Road to Building Self-Esteem with Sheila Ennin, a supportive, small-group program designed to help you build confidence from the inside out. Through guided reflection, experiential exercises, and meaningful discussion, you’ll learn how to challenge self-criticism, cultivate compassion, and reconnect with your inherent worth.

Let’s take this month to reflect, grow, and remind ourselves — we are enough. 💙

February 1–7 is Eating Disorders Awareness Week (EDAW). This national movement shines a light on the realities of eating disorders, challenges stigma, and advocates for access to care. Eating disorders affect people of all genders, ages, backgrounds, and identities—and support is available. Together, we can raise awareness, foster understanding, and create change. 💚

Community means not having to carry grief alone. We show up, we listen, and we hold space for one another—especially in the hardest moments 🤍

Yesterday, our volunteers attended a Grief Support Workshop hosted and facilitated by Rivers Edge Counselling. It's important to take care of the ones who are taking care of others, so when Rivers Edge offered to host our team, we were so grateful! Here is some feedback from the participants:

"Both my wife and I enjoyed the Grief Workshop. Rebecca facilitated the workshop very well!"
"I really enjoyed the workshop, I learned a lot - Thank you!"
"Rebecca had such a calming presence, and created a safe environment for us."
"One of my biggest takeaways was the importance of simply sitting with someone in their grief and offering presence. Thank you for sharing your insight and compassion."

We want to share our deepest gratitude to .edge.counselling.centre for helping us support our volunteers in a deeply meaningful and tangible way. This is community lifting up community, and is what St. Albert does best.

It’s getting chilly in St. Albert! A reminder to our community members that there are resources available for those in need during this cold snap 💙

The City of St. Albert is activating its Vulnerable Population Weather Response from Jan. 22 to 25. It’s important to ensure everyone’s safety, as these frigid temperatures hit St. Albert. If you do not have access to a heated location of your own, visit any of these public buildings to get out of the cold: St. Albert Place, Fountain Park Rec Centre, Servus Credit Union Place, and the St. Albert Public Library (Downtown and Jensen Lakes).

The St. Albert Food Bank and Community Village offers shower and washroom facilities, and food and water.

Find the resources you need to stay safe. For complete details, visit https://loom.ly/-gceIR8

Reposting, as we have 5 more openings!

Are you currently in need of counselling support, but cannot afford it?

Spaces open now for our winter pro bono program! Counselling sessions will be booked with one of our graduate practicum counsellors. Clients will receive 10 pro bono sessions, which must be used before April 6, 2026.

The intention of this program is to provide an opportunity for adults and teens 13+ (we do have a few spaces this time for some younger 8+ kids) who are available and interested in having 10 weekly (or near-weekly) sessions in order to focus on some specific goals that can be attainable with regular counselling sessions.

Click here to learn more about the program, the specific times available, and to apply (this program is barrier-free; anyone can apply).

Registration Form: https://forms.gle/QjfwbukeZ2dj95BY8

*Note that our fall program was filled within a couple days. Once full, we will offer a waitlist for openings in spring/summer.

January can feel like a tough month, but our friends at NeutralGround will be doing some mental health and wellness activities, once again reminding us how important community and connection are to our overall well being!

This month we are partnering with the City of St. Albert Family & Community Support Services for our Together at the Library- Neutral Ground event.

Family and Community Services will be doing some mental health awareness activities during January 2026, which is often the hardest month for many. One of those activities is creating and distributing Wellness Bags designed to lift spirits and spark connection. These bags will be filled with small, thoughtful items like Toques, tea, journals, affirmations, resource information and more and are meant to be given to someone who might need a little encouragement. The goal is to inspire people to reach out, check in, and remind each other that no one is alone. FCSS is inviting community partners, groups and residents to join in to make it happen.

Neutral Ground is going to be partnering with the city by having a card making station at a January event. Participants can grab two bags, one for themselves and one to give to someone else and they can make an encouraging handmade card to add to it.

Blending families is more than a milestone — it’s a process, and it can be both meaningful and complex.

From dating, to getting serious, to committing to life together as a family, the journey to becoming a stepfamily brings unique challenges and questions. In this workshop, we’ll explore guidance and practical skills shared by experts to help partners navigate this transition with greater clarity and care.

Topics include when and how to introduce children to new partners, understanding the “insider” and “outsider” experience within blended families, and relationship skills that can support connection and stability along the way.

Whether you’re just beginning this journey or already navigating life as a blended family, this session offers insight, perspective, and support.
