As some of you might know, Mount Carmel Home has been experiencing a COVID-19 outbreak, which was declared on January 8th, 2022. With recent testing of staff and residents, we have learned that more individuals are infected with covid than we initially thought. Thankfully, residents and staff have either mild symptoms or no symptoms at all at this time. With that being said, they are all isolated to their rooms. Public Health has told us that we could allow short, supervised outings for our residents to get some fresh air around our property outside. Unfortunately, due to the number of staff in isolation, we do not have the capacity to supervise outings for our residents at this time. But that's where you can help!
We are asking if there are any of our Mount Carmel Family and Friends that would be willing to volunteer some time to supervise outings for our residents. This task would entail meeting a resident at their room, walking with them outside, and sanitizing anything they were to touch along the way. The resident would be able to spend some time outside (not off the Mount Carmel property), and then they would need to be escorted back to their room, with surfaces sanitized again on the way back. Though the weather is chilly, we believe that this would help our residents immensely during this difficult time. Even just sitting outside on the ramp for a few minutes would be better than being cooped up in their rooms. Volunteers would be required to wear full PPE for the duration of their time here, and have a rapid test performed on their arrival.
