As the New Year begins, it can feel tempting to rush into big resolutions; lists, rules, and pressure to “get it right.” But what if this year, you chose something gentler?

Setting intentions invites you to focus less on what you must change and more on how you want to feel. Instead of rigid goals, ask yourself:
💙Do I want to feel calmer?
💙More grounded?
💙Stronger?
💙More connected?

When you lead with feeling, your actions naturally begin to align.

Your intentions don’t have to look like anyone else’s. They are personal, shaped by your values, your season of life, and what truly matters to you. And they’re allowed to be flexible, because life shifts, and so do we.

Start small. One mindful choice. One 10-minute pause. One moment of care for yourself. Write your intentions down somewhere you’ll see them often, and check in weekly with compassion, not judgment. Celebrate the quiet wins, they matter more than you think.

💚 If you’re ready to approach the New Year with intention instead of pressure, we’re here to support you.

Comment “INTENTIONS”, save this post, or reach out to learn how therapy can help you stay aligned, supported, and grounded as the year unfolds.

Winter isn’t everyone’s season, and that’s okay.
If the shorter days feel heavier, your energy feels lower, or everything seems to slow down a little more than you’d like, you’re not alone.

This season invites a different pace. One that doesn’t demand productivity or constant joy, but rather gentleness, intention, and care.

💚 Let rest be a priority.
Rest isn’t giving up, it’s refueling. Your body and nervous system may need more sleep, more stillness, and more quiet than usual. Honour that without guilt.

💚 Make plans for the future.
Winter can feel endless, but it isn’t. Having something to look forward to, big or small can bring a sense of hope and direction when days feel long.

💚 Seek out more warmth and light.
Whether it’s sunlight through a window, candlelight, cozy blankets, or warm conversations, these moments matter more than we realize. Light; literal and emotional, helps ground us.

💚Try out new hobbies.
This season is a beautiful time to explore something just for you. Creativity, learning, and play can gently shift your focus and reconnect you to yourself.

💚Spend time outdoors.
Even brief moments outside can help regulate mood and energy. A short walk, fresh air, or noticing winter’s quiet beauty can offer a grounding reset.

If winter feels challenging, it doesn’t mean something is wrong with you. It simply means your system is asking for extra care.

You don’t have to navigate it alone. 💙

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, low, or disconnected this season, support can help. Reach out to our team to learn how therapy can support you through winter, and beyond.

The holidays can be full of connection, noise, routine changes, and emotion, and when it all suddenly ends, it can leave behind a quiet heaviness that’s hard to name.
If you’re feeling low, unmotivated, anxious, or simply off after the holidays, please know this: nothing is wrong with you.

What many people experience during this time is known as the post-holiday blues. It’s a natural response to emotional intensity, exhaustion, and the abrupt return to everyday life. Your nervous system has been “on” for weeks, and now it’s trying to settle. That transition can feel uncomfortable, tender, and overwhelming all at once.

There is no timeline for “getting back to normal.” You don’t need to be productive, positive, or grateful right now. What matters most is allowing yourself space to soften, to rest, and to reconnect with small, grounding moments that help you feel safe again; a morning routine, nourishing meals, fresh air, quiet connection, or gentle movement.

You were never meant to navigate emotional shifts alone. Whether it’s reaching out to someone you trust, writing out what you’re holding inside, or seeking professional support, connection can help lighten the load. Healing doesn’t have to be loud or fast, it can be slow, steady, and deeply compassionate.

If these feelings feel heavy or lingering, support is available. You deserve care that meets you exactly where you are. 💙

As Christmas Day winds down, we want to send warmth to you, wherever you are, and however this season is showing up for you.

The holidays can bring joy, grief, exhaustion, connection, loneliness, or a mix of it all. There is no right way to feel. What matters is allowing yourself grace and space to simply be.

May tonight offer you a moment to breathe, to rest your nervous system, and to move gently into the days ahead.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a reminder that you are supported; today and always 💚

The holidays can be full of joy, and full of pressure. This is your gentle reminder on Christmas Eve night that taking care of you matters, too. 💚

Move your body because it feels good, not as punishment. Offer yourself compassion instead of criticism. You don’t owe everyone your time, energy, or explanations. It’s okay to step back, take a breather, and choose rest when you need it.

Saying “no” is allowed. Choosing yourself is allowed. And whatever emotions show up this season; joy, grief, nostalgia, overwhelm, or all of it at once, they are valid. The holidays don’t have to look a certain way to be meaningful.

Give yourself permission to move through this season in a way that supports your well-being. You deserve care, too.💙

The holidays can bring joy… and a lot of noise in our thoughts. This is where CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) can be especially supportive.

CBT helps us gently notice our thoughts, question the ones that increase stress, and choose responses that align more closely with our values, rather than reacting on autopilot.

As you move through this season, try pausing with these 5 CBT-inspired questions:

✨ What am I truly grateful for this holiday?
✨ What expectations can I let go of to enjoy this season more fully?
✨ How can I stay present and engaged in the moments that matter?
✨ How can I respond to holiday stress with kindness toward myself and others?
✨ Does my holiday spending reflect my values and priorities?

There’s no “perfect” way to do the holidays.
There is a more mindful, compassionate way to move through them, one thought at a time.

If the holidays feel heavy, support is available. You don’t have to navigate it alone. 🤍

Our hearts are full. 💚

Thank you to everyone who took a moment out of their busy lives to support our Community Care Food Drive. Your generosity helped turn care into action and kindness into something tangible for individuals and families facing food insecurity in our community.

Every item donated represents more than food, it represents dignity, warmth, and the reminder that no one is alone. Whether you gave quietly, shared the initiative, or offered encouragement, you played a meaningful role in supporting those who need it most.

Community care is powerful. Healing happens not only in therapy rooms, but also in the ways we show up for one another. We are deeply grateful to be surrounded by such a compassionate community.

From all of us at Grounding Balance Wellness & Psychotherapy, thank you for being part of this.💙

It’s late. The world is quiet. And tonight holds the Winter Solstice; the longest night of the year.

If you’re lying awake, scrolling, thinking, or feeling more than you expected, you’re not alone. For many, this can feel symbolic of exhaustion, overwhelm, or simply making it through. Nights often bring what we don’t have time to feel during the day.

The solstice is a gentle, hopeful reminder that even in darkness, change is already happening. From this point on, the days grow lighter; slowly, patiently, without pressure. Healing works the same way.

As we approach a new year, this is your reminder that growth doesn’t require urgency. Healing doesn’t need a deadline. And you are allowed to move forward in a way that feels safe, supported, and true to you.

If you’re feeling called to reflect, reset, or receive support as the light begins to return, therapy can offer a warm, grounded space to do exactly that.

The longest night has passed. Brighter days are coming, one step at a time.

If this message found you awake, maybe it found you for a reason. Support is available when you’re ready. Head to the link in bio for more information 💙

Self-regulation isn’t about being “calm” all the time, and it definitely isn’t about suppressing emotions.

It’s the skill of noticing what’s happening inside you and choosing how to respond instead of reacting on autopilot.

💙When stress hits, self-regulation looks like pausing before snapping.
💙When emotions run high, it’s allowing yourself to feel without letting those feelings take over.
💙When life feels overwhelming, it’s grounding yourself enough to stay present and make intentional choices.

This skill is built over time, through awareness, nervous system support, and compassion for yourself on the hard days. And the more you practice it, the safer your body begins to feel, even in moments of challenge.

Self-regulation helps you:
• Stay connected instead of shutting down
• Respond thoughtfully instead of reacting emotionally
• Feel steadier in your body and mind
• Build emotional resilience for yourself (and your kids watching you)

It’s not perfection.
It’s practice.
And every small moment of pause counts.

❌Myth:Mindfulness means emptying your mind or stopping your thoughts.

✅Fact: Mindfulness means noticing your thoughts without judgment, letting them come and go, instead of getting stuck in them. You don’t have to “clear your mind” You just have to be present with it.

Mindfulness is often misunderstood, and that misunderstanding can make it feel intimidating or “not for me.”

The truth?
Mindfulness isn’t about shutting your thoughts off or doing it perfectly. It’s about gently noticing what’s happening inside you, without criticism, pressure, or judgment.

Your mind will wander.
Thoughts will show up.
And that’s okay.

Mindfulness teaches us how to be with our thoughts instead of fighting them, creating more calm, awareness, and emotional balance over time.

If you’ve ever felt like mindfulness “wasn’t working” for you, you’re not alone, and you’re not doing it wrong.

Overthinking can feel loud, heavy, and never-ending.
The what ifs, the replays, the second-guessing; all happening at once.

It keeps your mind stuck in the past or racing into the future, leaving your body feeling tense, tired, and overwhelmed.

Mindfulness invites you back to right now.💚

It reminds you to pause.
To breathe.
To notice that in this moment, you are okay.

When you practice mindfulness, you’re teaching your nervous system that it’s safe to slow down. You begin responding instead of reacting, releasing what you can’t control, and grounding yourself in the present.

Over time, this creates more calm, clarity, and emotional balance, supporting both your mental health and overall wellbeing.

If your mind feels busy or stuck in loops, you’re not failing; you’re human. And you don’t have to navigate it alone.

As Monday begins to wind down and the day grows quieter, this can be a gentle moment to check in with yourself. The lights are lower, the world feels a little softer, and there’s space to breathe before the rest of the week unfolds.

If anxiety has been buzzing in the background or burnout has been sitting heavy in your body, you’re not alone. Many of us carry the weight of the week ahead before it even begins, mentally running through tasks, responsibilities, and expectations long after the day is done.

Tonight, week prep doesn’t have to look like planning everything out. It can look like slowing down.

💚Taking one deep breath in… and a longer breath out.
💚Noticing what feels heavy, what feels uncertain, and what feels supportive right now, without trying to fix it.

Awareness alone can begin to calm the nervous system.

A gentle tip for easing anxiety and burnout this evening:
💙place one hand on your chest or stomach and breathe slowly for 60 seconds.
💙Let your body know that, in this moment, you are safe and allowed to rest.

Small grounding practices done consistently can be more regulating than pushing through exhaustion.

As you prepare for the week ahead, consider setting soft intentions instead of rigid expectations. Move at your own pace. Do what you can. Choose one grounding anchor; rest, breath, quiet moments, or gentle movement, and let that be enough.

And if your mind feels stuck in overdrive, your body feels constantly tense, or burnout feels like it’s becoming your baseline, support can help. You don’t have to carry it all alone.

💙 Head to the link in our bio to reach out if you’re needing extra support this week. We’re here when you’re ready.
