Each year on , we honour 2 Spirit, trans, non-binary and gender-diverse people whose lives were lost to violence, illness, hate, substance use, su***de and institutional failure.
This year, the Trans Deaths Monitoring Report recorded over 350 trans people globally whose deaths were reported between October 2024 and October 2025. Many more were never counted. Each loss represents a life loved, a community grieving and a story cut short.
In Ontario, 35 per cent of trans people seriously considered su***de in the past year. Eleven per cent attempted. Twelve per cent used one or more high-risk illicit drugs. These numbers reflect the harm caused when identity is rejected, care is delayed or denied and safety is out of reach.
Today we hold space for the people we have lost and the communities carrying their grief. We honour the trans people who continue to lead, create, advocate and live their truth in a world that is still catching up to what they deserve.

Addiction is the result of our brain rewiring itself to earn rewards and pleasure. Our addiction becomes something we need to feel okay, even when it causes harm, even if we want to stop. The good news is that all types of addiction are treatable. Recovery rewires hope. https://niagara.cmha.ca/category/news-releases/
