Optimizing digestion doesn’t have to be difficult 🙏
Many people believe Ayurvedic food is just Indian food… IT IS NOT!
Ayurvedic cooking and eating is about optimizing digestion & you can apply these principles to so many different types of cuisines 👇
On your plate, aim to have:
🥕 🍚 60 % augmenting foods:
- this will consist of 30% grain & 30% augmenting vegetable, such as a root vegetable like carrots.
- augmenting foods help us build tissue and provide the necessary bulk to the stool so that it can move through the digestive tract successfully. We need slightly more augmenting foods than extractive to maintain our strength.
🥬 🫘 40% extractive foods:
- this will consist of 20% legumes (or meat) & 20% extractive vegetable, such as a dark leafy green like kale.
-extractive foods have a cleansing effect on the body, they require more work to digest. If we have too much extractive food and not enough augmenting food, the result is excess gas, dryness and constipation.
