21 years ago today was my due date for my first and likely only baby!! 🌟
When I was younger I didn’t really want kids, you know the whole make money travelling the world idea (naive) Then I met Johnny - who quickly became my second husband who came with a bundle, an already made 5 yr old boy Cameron and 4 yr old girl Megan. These three incredible people shook my world and pulled at my heartstrings! I soon realized I could do this being a Mom thing (I chose to go all in as a bonus-Mom and love them like my own) At this time I had also become a doula and started teaching prenatal yoga. So take my passion for all things pregnancy and birth; my third birth as a doula was an amazing home water birth = I wanted to do this!! I wanted to experience pregnancy first hand, not just help others and teach it, but do it too!
So in 2004 on a new moon on my sister’s birthday with the second round of IUI the miracle happened!! No words can describe the happiness and joy! Now I was a part of this prenatal community that I loved so much- finally at 34!!
The top of the OM🕉 is bliss, this prenatal photo of me and my bump conveys that so well! I absolutely loved being pregnant! Having this experience myself defintitely added authenticity to my teaching and fueled my dreams. I practiced what I preached and even taught a prenatal yoga class past my due date. Like many of you have or will witness my due date came and went, which was fine I was in no rush! People often said “oh you could have a Valentines’s baby“ I thought that was kind of mean but sure enough that’s when it came!! Surprise! A big beautiful girl 🎀Kali (like the Hindu Goddess) Love (because it was ❤️day)
Twenty -one years later I am reminiscing the waiting game and revelling where I am now!
Still immersed in the prenatal community which is now my own vision come to fruition -Between Mothers, my other baby, which is ‘bumping’ pun intended lol!! Still witnessing amazing birth stories and watching our beautiful daughter blossom into an extraorinary young woman/legal everywhere now- how is this even possible?!
Something I’ve learned on this motherhood journey is that the Mom role is an ever changing one, sometimes more quietly in the background letting them spread their wings, sometimes more fiercely than ever in times of adversity and being the first person they call with good or bad news is everything! And honestly I couldn’t do without the Mom friends I’ve met along way in this amazing community, the first people I call with good, bad or exciting news!!
I invite every woman to join this tribe and ride along this incredible journey!
With light and Love
