Guatemala 2023 Dental Mission Trip
A Huge Success!

The relaunch of the Health Outreach Mission trip to Guatemala was a huge success. This year a total of 35 project volunteers were involved making up three teams over a two-week period. The communities of Quesada and Old Antigua were serviced as well as villages along the Rio Dulce river. Our teams were comprised of dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, translators, nurses, a pediatrician and technical support staff. In total well over 1500 children were examined and treated during this two-week period. Many of them had been suffering with untreated dental and medical problems for months.

Dear Friends:
After a three year hiatus brought on by the pandemic, I will be returning to Guatemala in January 2023 for the third time to perform free dental services for the poor and indigenous population of this Central American nation. I am proud to announce that I will be joined by 5 team members from my office. Dr. Claudia de Palma and her husband Alex Palma, Silja Boss and her husband Felipe Valenzuela and Gina Guevara will form our team. We will be providing services to the people of remote communities with a charitable organization called Health Outreach. Health Outreach is a non-profit, non-denominational, Toronto based, volunteer driven charity dedicated to providing health services to impoverished people in remote areas of developing countries. The costs of this trip are entirely self-funded. I encourage all of you to check out the new Health Outreach website at www.healthoutreach.world. The website is filled with details about the charity and pictures and testimonials from past projects. I have attached a few photos to this e-mail.
I would like to ask all of you to consider sponsoring our January 2023 trip with a donation. All donations over $25 will receive a CCRA charitable tax receipt (registration ). All donations are solely used in the direct provision of dental health care and not towards administrative costs.

INTRODUCING NEW HOURS

Our office is introducing extra late hours to better serve our clients. We recognize a slow return to the office for many employees and have thus expanded our service hours.

Effective May 2, 2022 our office hours will be:

Monday: 7:30am - 7:00pm
Tuesday: 8:30am - 7:00pm
Wednesday: 7:30am - 5:00pm
Thursday: 8:30am - 5:00pm
Friday: 9:00am - 12:00pm
Saturday: closed
Sunday: closed

We hope you are all keeping safe!

It’s been two years since the WHO declared the COVID 19 pandemic and the world has under undergone tremendous changes.

Over the past two years we have made numerous changes to our office to keep you safe. Our operatories are now fully glass enclosed with individual air filtration systems in place. This minimizes aerosol spread. We have a full complement of PPE including N95 Masks, face shields and gowns. Our office has a specifically designated donning and doffing area and full washer and dryer for in house laundry. We have controlled the flow of patient traffic in our office to keep people distanced. We will continue to screen for COVID as long as it is required.

Masking will still be required in all Dental Offices.

While the Government has decided that masking requirements will be removed in most places on March 21, this does NOT include health-care settings. Dentistry is a health care profession and infection prevention and control requirements, including PPE requirements, are essential to the delivery of safe and effective oral health care. Please be kind and considerate and abide by this requirement.

We’d like to thank those of you who have complimented us on our efforts to keep you safe and we wish you and your loved ones continued good health.
