The 2026 RTM updates aren't just tweaks, they're a major leap forward for clinics using Remote Therapeutic Monitoring.

Here's what's changing:
✅ 98975: Initial RTM setup and patient training (requires 2 or more monitored days).
✅ 98985: RTM device capturing 2–15 days of MSK data in 30 days.
✅ 98977: RTM device capturing 16–30 days of MSK data in 30 days.
✅ 98979: 10 minutes RTM management time per month.
✅ 98980: 20 minutes RTM management time per month.
✅ 98981: Each extra 20 minutes of RTM management beyond 98980.

RTM billing is getting a major upgrade in 2026, and it could boost your clinic’s revenue by 30–40%.

Under current rules, only about 60% of RTM patients meet the strict billing criteria. But the new rules CPT code system is changing that:

✅ 98985 covers 2–15 days of data
Or 98977 for 16+ days out of 30
✅ 98979 allows billing for 10 minutes of management in calendar month
Or 98980 for 20 minutes
✅ 98975 for setup and training with only 2 days of monitoring

With this expanded flexibility, even moderate-compliance patients and simpler cases become billable. That turns missed revenue into real returns.
