Telling women to be “flexible” in their birth plans is just priming them for sabotage.

In the system, it’s rare to hear anything truly supportive. Instead, women are told to stay open to all outcomes, that birth is unpredictable, and that their plan might have to go out the window.

Let’s be honest—that’s not support. That’s conditioning. Conditioning women to hand over their instincts, their vision, their power, the moment it becomes inconvenient.

Here’s an entirely alternate perspective: your body was made for this. You can call in the birth you desire. You are the co-creator of this experience.

Undisturbed physiological birth isn’t some outlier miracle, it’s the norm when you’re left alone. Your body knows what it’s doing. The risk is not in you, it’s in the interference.

Most providers, even with good intentions, have been trained to take over. To manage, to rescue, to control. And often, they end up creating the very problems they swoop in to fix.

Birth plans inside the system don’t offer protection. They’re symbolic. They’re meant to make women feel like they’re in charge, while the system still holds the power.
So why focus on preparing for compromise?

Spend your pregnancy building the reality you do want. Trust your body. Love on your baby. Fill your world with people who believe in you.

You don’t need a printed plan to claim your birth. It’s already yours.

✨ If you’re ready to step outside the system and prepare for a sovereign birth, I offer 1:1 coaching for women planning a freebirth and those healing from medicalized births. Reach out—I’d be honoured to walk beside you.

Hi, I’m Jess—a mother of two and a passionate advocate for sovereign birth. My journey into birth work began with the birth of my daughter in 2019. While I prepared for and desired a physiological birth, I was still navigating the system, which ultimately shaped my understanding of the limitations and interventions (to put it lightly) many women face. Something, no *everything*, was missing. I knew this kind of “care” wasn’t what I wanted, and surely there were more women out there craving a loving, mother-centred, more whole experience. This realization planted the seed for the work I do today.

Since 2021, I have served women both virtually and in person, providing support throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I offer holistic birth education and guidance in preparation for the rite of passage that is childbirth and motherhood. My coaching centres on self-responsibility, trust, and intuitive birth preparation, helping women step into their power with clarity and confidence.

In 2023, I completed my training as a Radical Birth Keeper with Free Birth Society, further expanding my confidence to support women in reclaiming their autonomy in birth. That same year, I freebirthed my son, a deeply transformative experience that reinforced my trust in birth and the innate wisdom of women’s bodies. Currently, I’m a student mentor in the 2024/25 cohort of the Matribirth Midwifery Institute (MMI), guiding aspiring birth workers on their path.

Birth is at the crux of everything—a truly sacred event—and you deserve to experience it in a way that aligns with your deepest values. If you’re looking for guidance, reassurance, or a deeper connection to your birth experience, I would love to support you.

✨ Let’s walk this path together. ✨
