👣 Foot Fact Friday

Swollen Feet Aren’t Just Tired Feet

Did you know swelling in the feet and ankles (edema) can be more than just a sign of being on your feet too long? It can also point to circulation issues, heart problems, or vein conditions that need attention.

👉 Mild swelling can often be managed with:
✔️ Elevating your feet
✔️ Staying active and moving regularly
✔️ Wearing compression socks (I’m a certified fitter!)
✔️ Reducing excess salt intake

But persistent or painful swelling should never be ignored—it’s your body’s way of telling you something is off. Footcare isn’t just about nails and skin—it’s about circulation, mobility, and overall health.

👣 Foot Fact Friday

Your Feet Have Over 200,000 Nerve Endings!

That’s why they’re so sensitive to touch, pressure, and even tickling. But here’s something important—people with diabetes often lose sensation in their feet (a condition called neuropathy).

👉 This means they may not feel pain from cuts, blisters, or wounds. And if you can’t feel it and can’t easily see the bottom of your feet, it’s a case of out of sight, out of mind—which can lead to infections becoming severe before they’re noticed.

🦶 Daily foot checks, proper footwear, and professional care are essential for anyone living with diabetes. Even small injuries should never be ignored, because healthy feet = a healthier you. 💙

📣 BREAKING NEWS 📣
On Saturday, Sept 6 from 11–2 we’re hosting a BBQ outside Jean Coutu, and it’s basically the event of the year (okay… maybe not Beyoncé-level, but close).

Here’s what’s on the menu:
🌭 BBQ so good you’ll forget you were supposed to be “just running in for toothpaste.”
🎯 Games & prizes (yes, your kid will absolutely want to play them all).
📸 Back-to-School Photo Drop—don’t worry if your child’s “smile” looks like they just licked a lemon. I’ve got a side gig in making kids laugh, so we’ll get the shot.

The best part? Every dollar helps us reach our goal of $5000 in support of Operation Feed. So while you’re filling your belly and your camera roll, you’re also helping fill plates for people in our community.

👉 And hey—if you’re a local business, we’re still looking for a few more donations to make this day extra fun. It’s a great way to show off your business and support a cause that matters. Contact myself, Ashley Sainders, at 506-696-0000 ext 4 or email me at asainders@pjc.jeancoutu.com

We can’t wait to see you all there!☀️

Happy Monday Everyone!! 🌞

With our Community Fundraiser Event for Operation Feed coming up on Sept 6th, 2025, we are in need of some donations to help us make this event as successful as possible.
We are still looking for donations of chocolate bars, small prizes for kids, bottles for our Bottle Drive and of course monetary donations.

Your monetary donations will go towards supplies for the event should we need more. If not, the donation will be added to our goal of $5000!

What is in it for you? Your company logo will be setup at the station to which you made a donation, plus we will have a large "Thank You" sign with donor logos on it as well.

Help us come together to make this a great event for our community! 🤩🤍

👣 Foot Fact Friday
Every Step You Take = A Tiny Workout for Your Feet!

Did you know that with every single step, your feet absorb a force that’s 1.5 times your body weight—and up to 4x your body weight when you run or jump? 😱

That’s a LOT of pressure on your feet day in and day out. No wonder they get tired!

👉 This is why proper support, cushioning, and regular footcare are so important:
✔️ Replace worn-out shoes (your soles shouldn’t be flatter than your energy at 3pm)
✔️ Use arch support or insoles if you're on your feet a lot
✔️ Stretch and massage your feet to release tension
✔️ Soak and moisturize after a long day—your feet deserve it!

Your feet are your foundation. Take care of them and they’ll carry you further—comfortably! 💪👣

When you’re a busy mom juggling 47 things before vacation… and your dog ends up in your office chair like he owns the place. 🙄🐾💼

I will be on vacation tomorrow, Friday August 15th as well as Monday, August 18th. If you need anything footcare related, don’t hesitate to reach out to my coworkers in the pharmacy at 506-696-0000!

👣 Foot Fact Friday 👣
Let’s Talk Toenail Fungus (Yes, Really!)

Did you know that toenail fungus affects about 10% of the population—and that number climbs as we get older? It’s more common than you think, and it thrives in warm, damp environments, like sweaty socks and shoes. 🙈

Fungal infections can cause your toenails to become discolored, thickened, brittle, or even start to lift. Not cute—and definitely not comfortable!

But here’s the good news: you can take simple steps at home to help prevent toenail fungus from ever starting:

🧼 Wash and dry your feet daily—don’t forget between the toes!
🧦 Change your socks regularly, especially if they get sweaty.
👟 Let your shoes breathe—rotate pairs and avoid wearing the same shoes two days in a row.
💅 Don’t share nail clippers or files, and keep yours clean.
🏖️ Wear shower sandals in public places like pools, gyms, or hotel bathrooms.
🪬 Use antifungal powder or spray if you're prone to sweaty feet. Make sure to spray your shoes too!

Fungal infections can sneak up on anyone—but with a little extra care, your feet can stay clean, clear, and comfy! 💅👣
