Explaining numbness in thumb and fore fingers and why I do pectoral work!
Numbness in your arm running from your shoulder down to your hands? 🤔
You could be dealing with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS) — a condition caused by compression of the nerves or blood vessels that pass between your collarbone and first rib. This compression can lead to numbness, tingling, weakness, coldness, or even swelling in the affected arm or hand.
TOS can be triggered by poor posture (especially forward head and rounded shoulders), repetitive overhead activities, carrying heavy bags, or even old injuries around the neck or shoulder. It’s common among people who sit long hours at a desk, athletes who do repetitive motions, and individuals with tight neck and chest muscles.
Treatment focuses on improving posture, releasing muscle tension, and restoring proper alignment of the shoulder and rib cage. Gentle stretching, nerve glides, and strengthening the postural muscles can help open up the space in the thoracic outlet and relieve pressure on the nerves and vessels.
💡 Tip: If your arm feels heavy or goes numb when lifting it overhead or during sleep, it’s time to pay attention — early management can prevent chronic nerve irritation and improve your daily function.
Time is flying. Soon it will be a brand new year!
A new year brings new beginnings. That being said, my goal is to upgrade your experiences in my care. So.......
Bring on the FEEDBACK!
What would you like to see happen within my practice? What's missing? What do you dislike and wish would change? Anything you would like me to know?
There are no wrong answers, no judgment; feedback is an opportunity to learn. I can't promise I will be able to address all the feedback, but I can promise to do what I can.
I think it's important that we all get a say in the collaboration that is my massage practice.
Have at 'er!

I was thinking about the start of my career, 10 whole years ago (not unprompted-I found a video of my original space)
I do not always recall all things. However, I know I was so incredibly fortunate to have all y'all, as well as my amazing mentors. Allowing me to bring my toddler to work- who likely interrupted every session, allowing me to massage through sheets, trial new-to-me techniques, pajama pants uniforms, natural bedhead, the incessant talking, allowing me space to learn my own abilities and limits. And so much more.
Some of the stuff, looking back, was wildly not on par, professionally. The glow up is wild. I may not be the ultra professional space, and I still have lots of shifting left to do. I look forward to surviving the next upgrade/evolution of self and DMT.
I am so incredibly thankful that y'all overlooked the initial growing pains. The support was unmatched and allowed me to get to the now. The support is still unmatched!
And whether you still come in or have found different, I think of y'all fondly and hope you are doing well and continue to honor yourself in receiving what you need.
Forever grateful.

Rolling glutes (*and feet) can have a major positive impact on back pain and hip mobility. I am pro rolling and terrible at explaining why! So hope this is a more comprehensible take on it. If you need help learning how to roll properly or advice on what to use to roll with (*not always a tennis ball needed), I can help you with that! Roll on!
Rolling a tennis ball under your glutes provides a self-administered, deep-tissue massage that releases tension in tight glute muscles and connective tissue, reducing pressure on the sciatic nerve, easing lower back pain by deactivating hyperactive nerves, and improving hip mobility by breaking down muscle adhesions and increasing blood flow and nutrient delivery. This technique works by applying focused pressure to trigger points, relaxing muscles, and promoting a natural release of endorphins to help relieve pain.
To elaborate:
RELEASING SCIATIC NERVE TENSION: The sciatic nerve runs near or under the piriformis muscle in the buttock. When the piriformis muscle becomes tight or spasms, it can compress the sciatic nerve, causing pain. Rolling a tennis ball into this muscle applies pressure to the trigger point, helping it to relax and release the tension on the nerve, thus alleviating sciatic pain.
RELIEVING LOWER BACK PAIN: The tennis ball massage can directly target and relax tense muscle and connective tissues in the lower back and buttocks. Increased blood flow delivers healing nutrients and oxygen to the areas, aiding muscle recovery and reducing pain signals. The massage also stimulates the release of endorphins, the body’s natural pain-relieving hormones, which helps to reduce the perception of pain. Also, by reducing muscle hyperactivity, the massage can decrease the number of pain signals sent to the brain from the lower back nerves.
IMPROVING HIP MOBILITY: The focused pressure from the tennis ball helps to break up adhesions and scar tissue in the gluteal muscles, which can restrict movement. By releasing built-up tension and adhesions, the muscles become more pliable, allowing for a greater range of motion in the hips. Improved blood flow and circulation facilitate the delivery of nutrients and the removal of waste products from the muscles, promoting greater flexibility and easier movement.
Thanksgiving as a Holiday is over, but the thankfulness I hold for all ya'll is all day, every day.
Most of my referrals canonically come from word of mouth. Of late, I have noticed an increasing trend in those finding me at random and securing an appointment based on the reviews ya'll have left me!
So, in addition to my greatfulness of your patronage, I am so thankful for both word of mouth and all of your honest, kind, written reviews.
Also, thank you to those who take a chance on me. Massage is a vulnerable thing. Thank you for entrusting me as your safe space.

*My massages are therapeutically based and often times are painful. The first one is always the worst. If you are of low pain tolerance, we may not be a great match! There are many other therapists in the area who may fit your needs. :)
