Ever wondered how the Stellest lenses slow down the progression of Myopia? Remember, Myopia is a Minus Powered Prescription
Using HALT Technology, Essilor’s Stellest lens has been shown to slow down myopia progression by an average of 67%
H - Highly
A - Aspherical
L - Lenslet
T - Target
The HALT Technology essentially sends a signal to the brain to slow down the elongation of a myopic eye. The eye continues to grow with the increased use of up-close screen work, school work and exposure to UV light
Essilor performed a research study for the duration of 2 years in Wenzhou China with 54 children using the Stellest Lens, and 50 children in a standard Single Vision Lens. When worn 12 hours a day it was shown that 9/10 children in the Stellest Lens presented eye growth equal to or less than that of a non-myopic child
- 90% of children adapted to the Stellest lens within 3 days
- 100% of children adapted within a week
Who is at the highest risk of myopia development?
- Children 9 years old and younger
- Children whose parents are both myopic
- Kids who spend 0-1.5hrs a day outdoors
- Kids who spend 3+hrs a day on up-close work (outside of school hours)
- Children who have a refractive error of < +0.75 at 6-7yrs old
- Children whose Rx has progressed 1.25D or more over the last year
