Members of our team were honoured to attend yesterday’s flag raising at St. Thomas City Hall in recognition of Human Trafficking Awareness Day.

Human trafficking is one of the fastest growing crimes worldwide and continues to impact individuals and families in communities across Canada, including right here in Southwestern Ontario. As a healthcare organization, we have an important role to play in recognizing the signs, supporting those who may be at risk, and connecting patients with the care and resources they need in a safe and compassionate way.

Participating in events like this helps raise awareness, strengthen community partnerships, and reaffirm our commitment to protecting the health, safety, and dignity of every person we serve.

Friday, February 20 @ 10:15 a.m.: Our hospital continues to see consistently high patient volumes. This reflects a steady rise in overall demand rather than any one specific issue. At this time, a number of patients who need to be admitted are waiting in the Emergency Department for an inpatient bed, which reduces available space in the ED and will lead to longer wait times. We anticipate these capacity pressures will persist through the weekend.

It’s Pancake Tuesday! Today’s feature in the Atrium Café included fluffy pancakes topped with mixed berry compote and whipped cream, served with bacon or turkey bacon.

A big thank you to our Food Services team for the creativity (and deliciousness) they bring to our café. Little touches like this go a long way in brightening a busy day.

Today is Random Acts of Kindness Day! Kindness matters, and it doesn’t have to be big to make a difference. Today, do one small act that could lift someone’s spirits - hold the door, send an uplifting message, let someone merge in traffic, pick up a bit of litter, compliment a co-worker, or smile at a stranger. Every little bit adds up and helps make our community kinder and more connected.

Members of the STEGH Foundation team had the sweetest visit with Ms. Ostrander’s Grade 1/2 class at Elgin Court P.S. We exchanged Valentines and were so touched by the beautiful, handmade creations the students shared with us.

Today, their heartfelt cards are on their way to patients in long-term care at STEGH, helping to brighten their day and support them on the road to recovery.

Thank you to Ms. Ostrander and her wonderful class for spreading kindness in such a meaningful way. 💙💗

We’re thrilled to see Kara Lynds featured by myFM in their Volunteer Appreciation series.

Kara brings that same care and dedication you see at STEGH into our community. She’s been volunteering with the YWCA in St. Thomas since 2020, helping with events like International Women’s Day and the annual coat drive, and she’s woven that community spirit into her full-time role in Material Management here at the hospital.
