St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital has declared an Influenza A outbreak on the Continuing Care Centre (CCC) – C Unit. We are taking steps to reduce the spread of illness and keep patients, visitors, and staff safe.

Our hearts are full today. A big thank you to the kindergarten class at June Rose Callwood Public School for the bright, thoughtful cards they created as part of their November focus on gratitude. Their artwork brought so many smiles to our team.

We’re excited to welcome talented colleagues joining us across the hospital in roles such as Ultrasound Technologist, Registered Nurses, Staffing Resource Clerk, Finance Clerk, Executive Director, Project & Knowledge Translation Coordinator, and Security Guard. Last Friday, we were pleased to welcome a delegation from South Korea’s National Health Insurance Service (NHIS) to STEGH.

The group travelled to Canada to learn more about our approach to telemedicine and telepsychiatry, meeting with Dr. Giuseppe Guaiana, Chief of Psychiatry, to discuss Canada’s system, post-pandemic evolution, and practical strategies for implementation.

The NHIS team shared that they were referred to Dr. Guaiana because of his extensive involvement in telemedicine, as well as his published work on telepsychiatry in depression. Their goal was to explore how Canadian innovation can help inform their own national direction.
