Acupressure is 5,000 years old and is the precursor of acupuncture. Five Elements Acupressure blends Japanese finger pressure techniques, Acupuncture theory, Traditional Chinese Medicine theory, and Five Element theory, which is based on the natural cycles in the environment and within ourselves.
• Gentle yet deep sustained finger pressure is applied to the same points on the body that are used in acupuncture. The stimulation of these points can relieve pain, tension, stress, grief, fatigue, insomnia, assist with injuries, illness, and promote recovery.
• The client remains clothed (except in a combined Massage-Acupressure treatment), lying on a comfortable, padded massage table. No needles are used, only finger pressure.
• Acupressure accesses the body's innate ability to heal, and creates profound, energized, deep relaxation with lasting effect. It releases endorphins, increases circulation, can strengthen weaknesses, and prevent health disorders.The body, mind, and spirit are inextricably connected. Myofascial Release is a manual technique that applies gentle, sustained pressure to myofascial connective tissue to ease restrictions and pain, and restore movement.

Well known on Salt Spring Island for her work with seniors, Donna Powell has worked professionally in healthcare since 2010. She is trained in basic and intermediate Jin Shin Do® (Acupressure), Five Element and Acupuncture theory, Myofascial Release (MFR), Massage, and anatomy and physiology. She has a passionate interest in preventive healthcare, healing and wellness, and helping her clients achieve their best possible health. Nominated for Salt Spring Island Chamber of Commerce 2019 Award for “Top Health and Wellness Provider”.
