Here's an issue that has always struck close to my heart. So good to see efforts being made to reduce some of the harm that results from over-prescribing, and inappropriate prescribing, of pharmaceuticals to our senior citizens. If you believe that you, or someone you know, is being over-prescribed; particularly in the 3 classes of drug described in the article, find a doctor who will work with you (or your loved one) to find a better solution. Please don't use this information to unilaterally stop some or all of your meds; professional supervision is required, and ideally, I recommend a gentle tapering of the dosage. This is an area that I (Dr. Dunstan) have specific knowledge and experience with, and I'm always happy to answer any questions you may have; call/message today.
