Auntie time ❤️.

In recent days i have had the amazing privilege to witness my younger sister of 6 years give birth to her little one, Léticia.

She had a beautiful and powerful natural birth and it was quite something to witness my blood sister give birth to her first and the first in our family.

It will be so sad to leave them but I am so delighted to get this precious time now. 😊

Here is me wearing her as she sleeps and sister enjoys her first hair wash in 2 weeks 😅! Mwah 💋

Today is a big day ❤️.

A group of wonderful women and myself are going to perform The Va**na Monologues, a month after initial planned presentation date, due to snow storms on the island.

We have all been holding these Monologues in our bodies, our va**nas, for quite some time and I am sure feeling ready to share this important piece to our community.

It is an honour to bring awareness and empowerment to the women of our communities and to hold space for all women identifying being to rise in their féminité.

Community in the Birthing Year event we had with The Salt Spring Doula Collective.

We got a grant to organize an event for pregnant people or people with a kid under the age of one. The intention was to connect families between them and with the services and health care practitioner available to them on Island.

We had also cooked meals for them to bring back home afterward. It was a very lovely event. We are hoping to host them more often and are hoping to do some fundraisers soon for a new project we wish to start called « Doula at Your Doorsteps » which is a subsidized post partum care service for families in need.

It takes an island ! ❤️really

Pregnant families or families who have a baby of 12 months and younger on Salt Spring Island.

The Doula Collective on Salty is inviting you to a beautiful event on February 2nd. Below is a description of the event:

Community in the Birthing Year (Feb 2, 2018 at Lion’s Hall 2pm) is an event to bring together pregnant and post­partum families with Doulas and other professionals to create multi-way wellness and social support on SSI for the childbearing year. There will be a panel discussion including Doulas, Health Nurses, Birth Attendant Nurses, Midwives and other professionals, and small group facilitated discussions including all of the participants.

Purpose:

- To create a healthy family social and informational network during the prenatal and postpartum periods

Detail:

- Pre-made frozen home-cooked meals will be provided to all participants

- Families with a child up to 12 months of age are welcome

We were the lucky recipients of a Neighbourhood Small Grant from the Salt Spring Island Foundation for this event, so any donations will be acknowledged as matching this generous support.

We are a Collective of approximately a dozen certified Doulas who work with pregnant and postpartum women and their families, and you can find more information here: http://saltspringdoulas.ca
