A Sanctuary for Body & Soul

The Salt Spring Centre of Yoga, founded in 1981, is a non-profit, working yoga community. The Centre’s cozy turn-of-the- century farmhouse and studio buildings sit amid 70 acres of meadows, forest and organic gardens on beautiful Salt Spring Island, British Columbia.

Something is calling you to slow down, go deeper, and remember why you came to yoga in the first place.
The Yoga Study & Service Immersion is a four-week living, breathing experience on the sacred land of Salt Spring Island — where morning practice, nourishing meals, meaningful work, and real community weave together into something that’s hard to put into words, and impossible to forget.
Cook, tend the garden, study the 8 limbs, sit in satsang. Let your whole life become the practice.

1,008 potatoes planted, one by one, with full hearts! Future aloo gobi, we see you. 🌿 Our farm team also welcomed new medicinal plants, including Angelica Archangelica, into the Salt Spring Centre gardens. The healing garden grows! 🌾

Fresh sourdough, made with care (and delivered by bicycle).

Our bread 🍞 lovingly baked by Elise, won 2nd place at the Fall Fair, and has quietly become a Sunday favourite at the Centre.

Simple ingredients, slow process, and a lot of attention.

You can find it at our farm stand every Sunday, often still warm!

With eleven rounds of the Hanuman Chalisa, a yajña offered with care, and a gentle procession carrying Hanuman through the land and temples, the day unfolded in devotion and quiet presence.

Moments like these remind us that the teachings are not only studied, they are lived, together.

Grateful to all who came to chant, offer, and share in this day.

May Hanuman’s strength, humility, and devotion continue to guide us.

Over 35 hands in the soil, planting something that will grow for years to come.

This past week, we gathered for a community orchard planting workshop at the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga, in collaboration with Akasha Seeds, Nigel Kay, and the Salt Spring Farmland Trust.

Together, we planted the beginnings of a hazelnut orchard, a small act rooted in care, stewardship, and shared intention.

Moments like these remind us that the Centre is not only a place of practice, but a place where community, land, and future meet.

Deep gratitude to everyone who joined, contributed, and helped bring this vision into the ground.

With sitar and tabla filling the space, the evening unfolded in stillness, listening, and shared presence. It was a joy to welcome 65 people into this intimate setting, and to feel the warmth and attentiveness of everyone who came.

We are deeply grateful to the artists for offering their music with such generosity, and to all who attended and supported the first Music for Peacs.

Moments like these remind us of the quiet power of coming together in community.

We look forward to welcoming you again for the next Music for Peace, April 11.
