With the significant weather pressure systems we've been having this week, we've been hearing (and experiencing) migraines. If you've ever experienced one, you know that migraines aren't just headaches.
Notoriously, migraines are complex and so different from person to person, day to day. They're caused by many intrinsic factors (health conditions, stress, hormones, diet, sleep, etc), as well as external factors (environment, changes in weather, strong scents, bright lights, etc).
It's important to know that migraines can affect your hearing and your ears. Common migraine symptoms when it comes to ears include muffled hearing, sound sensitivity, ear fullness, ear pain, and tinnitus. Vestibular symptoms such as dizziness, balance concerns, and nausea with movement are also possible.
If this sounds familiar to you, a hearing assessment is where you should start. Rule out any obvious medical red flags and give yourself peace of mind. Our clinicians can let your physician or nurse practitioner know what's going on with your ears as a starting point.
