Why do I need contrast? 🤔🤔
Your doctor may request the use of a substance call contrast for your scan. Contrast is a safe dye that your technologist will inject into your arm using an IV. The contrast works like a flashlight to light up your blood vessels like a flashlight on the scan so the radiologist can see the area better. 🔦

While it’s called an image, an MRI scan is not a photograph at all. 🧐
Instead, it’s the culmination of magnetic fields and radio waves mapped by a computer by using a unique signal for each type of cell. Doctors can then identify each type of tissue, bone, joint, muscle and cartilage based on the signal recorded on the MRI scan. 🫀

What is Contrast? 🤔
Your doctor may request the use of a substance called contrast for your scan.
Contrast is a safe dye that your technologist will inject into your arm using an IV. The contrast works like a flashlight to light up your blood vessels like a flashlight on the scan so the radiologist can see the area better. 🫁
The contrast material used typically has few or no side effects. The contrast agent may give you a warm or flushing sensation. 😅
If you are having a scan using contrast, you would have been instructed to fast prior to your
appointment. 🚫
