March is Nutrition Month!

Every March, Nutrition Month is held in in Canada and is coordinated by Dietitians of Canada. The campaign aims to educate about the connection between food and overall well-being, emphasizing how food has the power to shape our health.

This year’s Nutrition Month theme is ‘Nourish to Flourish’. Food is more than fuel — it connects us to our cultures, our communities, and ourselves. This March, we are encouraging our patients and their families to reflect on our own relationships with food and try to nourish ourselves in a way that works for us.

This could look like:
• Cooking at home more often
• Trying new foods and dishes, exploring different food cultures
• Taking time to eat with others and connect
• Listening to your body’s hunger and fullness signals- eating when you are physically hungry and stopping when you feel comfortably full
• Getting your hands dirty and growing a vegetable garden. In the winter (or beyond), this could mean growing fresh herbs near the window or growing vegetables in a container with a grow light
• Eating or cooking a dish passed down through your family
