Did you know that many conditions, such as vascular disease, can be expressed through symptoms in the feet and extremities?

"Podiatrists are usually a first line for diagnosing vascular disease because a lot of the symptoms are presented in the extremities first before anywhere else."

Did you know that certain foot conditions, such as flat feet and susceptibility to ingrown toenails can be hereditary? These conditions can be apparent at an early age, where other conditions such as bunions and hammertoes, can become apparent as your child gets older.

Through a podiatric assessment, these conditions are able to be diagnosed and addressed so that preventative treatment and routine care can be provided.

Children grow quickly, but fitting kids with oversized or too small of footwear can cause unintentional complications.

Footwear which is too big (or small) can affect foot development, and create conditions for foot conditions to develop, Some of the conditions which can occur are the creation of calluses, corns, hammertoes (also known as claw toes), and development of bunions.

This is commonly related to the foot's physical reaction to attempt to keep footwear on (scrunching toes), and affect children's gait.

We have all been there...
Whether it's had something dropped onto it, stubbed against living room furniture, or mis-stepping in your summer footwear; at one point in their lives - most people will experience a nail injury.

While some can be minor and heal on their own, it is important to know when it is time to seek medical attention or help.

Signs of a 'traumatic nail injury' include the nail becoming separated from the nailbed, bleeding, bruising, swelling, and numbness.

Did you know that bunions, hammertoes, involuted nails, and flat feet are examples of possible hereditary foot conditions?

These conditions can potentially pass on to next generations and affect development.

Through a pediatric foot assessment , a podiatrist can diagnose these conditions and recommend maintenance and treatment care plans to help your kids have a good start.
