Breast tissue isn't supposed to feel smooth.

It's naturally dense, and many people have areas that feel lumpy, rope-like, or uneven.

Up to 50% of women between the ages of 20 and 50 experience fibrocystic breast changes, which can make the tissue feel more pronounced at certain times of the month.

What matters most is knowing what is normal for your own body so that you can notice when something truly changes.

What you're feeling when you notice texture:
— Fibrocystic tissue happens when fibrous tissue thickens or small fluid-filled cysts develop within the breast
— Glandular clusters that become more prominent before your period
— Lymph nodes, which can be palpable in the underarm and along the outer breast
— Scar tissue or previous lumpiness that's always been there

The important thing isn't smoothness — it's knowing your own baseline. Knowing what's normal for your body means you'll notice when something genuinely changes.

At the retreat on April 25, we spend more time on this together — a session called Know Your Breasts. 🌸

Most women have never been taught how to support lymphatic flow in their breasts and chest.

And yet it only takes about two minutes.

I haven’t seen a reliable statistic showing what percentage of people have been taught self-lymphatic drainage or breast / chest self-massage — which, in itself, says something about the gap in education around breast and chest health.

Practices like this can support lymphatic flow and tissue health, and they also help you become familiar with your own breast and chest tissue — so you can start to recognize what’s normal for your body.

Here’s a simple sequence you can try:

Step 1: Start at your collarbone — use light, gentle strokes toward your neck to activate the lymph nodes there first.

Step 2: Move to your armpit — light circular pressure to open the axillary lymph nodes.

Step 3: Use gentle, upward strokes from the base of the breast toward the armpit on each side.

Step 4: Finish with slow, deep breaths — your diaphragm supports lymphatic movement every time you breathe fully.

This is one of the practices I’ll be teaching at the Women’s Wellness Breast Self-Care Retreat on April 25. Join us and learn more about the changes, stages, and what’s normal for your breast and chest health.

Could it be cancer?

Breast pain (mastalgia) can be scary and we almost immediately fear that any pain there could be a sign of cancer.

But breast pain alone is rarely a symptom of breast cancer.

In fact, the majority of breast discomfort is caused by hormones, muscle tension, or lymphatic congestion — all very manageable and very common.

Your lymphatic system doesn't have a pump. It depends on movement to do its job — and most of us don't move in ways that support it. 🌿

Here are 3 gentle movements that encourage healthy lymphatic flow in the breast and chest area:

1️⃣ Arm circles — slow, full-range circles that open the armpit (axillary) lymph nodes
2️⃣ Deep diaphragmatic breathing — your diaphragm acts like a manual pump for your lymph system
3️⃣ Gentle chest openers — releasing tension in the pec muscles creates space for lymph to move

You don't need equipment. You don't need an hour. You just need two minutes and a little intention.

I go deeper into this at my retreat on April 25 — including hands-on self-massage techniques you can use at home. 🌸

Surround yourself with people who let you feel comfortable moving your body. 🤍

Breasts move.
That movement supports your lymphatic system.

Let them.

Something I've wanted to offer for years is finally here. 🌿

I've spent years working with women one-on-one helping them understand their bodies — whether they were navigating or recovering from surgery, seeking out a proactive approach to their breast health, or simply realizing no one had ever taught them what normal breast tissue feels like.

And I kept thinking: what would it look like to bring a group of women together for a whole day dedicated to exactly that?

Replacing fear with understanding. Learning to feel more confident caring for your own body.

That day is happening April 25th.

The Women's Breast Self-Care Retreat is a full day. We'll move through morning meditation, yoga for breast and chest health, a Know Your Breasts session, hands-on self-care massage techniques, body mapping, and mindful movement — followed by a closing circle. ❤️

If this is calling to you, I'd love to have you there.
