What is caregiver burnout? 🔥

Caregiver burnout is the physical, mental and/or emotional exhaustion felt by informal caregivers such as spouses, children or friends.

Signs of caregiver burnout include:
➡️ withdrawal from friends and family
➡️ changes in sleeping and eating habits
➡️ irritability
➡️ feelings of hopelessness or helplessness

If you feel like you're suffering from caregiver burnout, here are some things you can do:
☀️ Reach out. Talking to someone about the way you're feeling can go a long way.
☀️ Ask for help. Whether it's family, friends, neighbours, or professional home care, see if there's any tasks they can help with to lighten your load.
☀️ Take some time for yourself. When caring for someone else, it can be easy to put self care on the back burner. Commit some time to relaxing or enjoying your favourite activities.

And remember, taking care of yourself isn't selfish. When you feel better, you'll be able to provide better care.
