There are times when fast or explosive movement is appropriate, like if you are training for a certain sport. Our goal here is to cultivate mindfulness so we are moving slow and controlled. Each increment is as important as the next. By practicing moving with our breath we strengthen the mind/body connection. This allows us to be more efficient in our body whether it is in daily activity or intense sports training. Once we have developed this relationship with our body, we are more in tune to when it is appropriate to turn it up a notch or to ease off.
