SWITCH - Student Wellness Initiative Toward Community Health A student-led interdisciplinary wellness project that provides free health and outreach services

SWITCH is a student-led interdisciplinary wellness organization based out of the Westside Community Clinic. The aim of the project is to provide free walk-in health and outreach services to the residents of Saskatoon’s core neighbourhoods. In addition to traditional clinical services, we offer counselling, speech language pathology, physical therapy, chiropractic, acupuncture, cultural supports, gynecology, pediatrics, nutritional education, drop-in educational programming, and other outreach services.

"One Day" vs. "Day One"... MD student edition!🩺😍

This week, SWITCH welcomed the Schizophrenia Society of Saskatchewan, who led a programming session for the community and our volunteers! Huge thanks to them for stopping by!🧠

Elsewhere, our winter volunteers have been hard at work in providing both outreach and clinical services to the community! Huge thanks to you guys for your help, especially during this very busy time of year!📒🖊️

As a reminder, SWITCH will be open for only TWO MORE DAYS before the new year: Monday, December 15th, and Wednesday, December 17th. SWITCH services will return on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays in 2026.

Any post-secondary student, regardless of field of study, can become a volunteer! And if you're studying medicine, nursing, social work, or physical therapy, you can be a part of our clinical team!🤩

Winter has arrived at SWITCH!❄️

Over the past few weeks, our outreach and clinical volunteers have been busy helping provide our usual services, even as temperatures drop. Now, more than ever, SWITCH social and medical services are being utilized by the community, with more meals being served, patients being seen, and especially clothes being donated.

Huge thank you to our amazing volunteers for their continued service!🤩

As a reminder, SWITCH is now CLOSED on Saturdays for the rest of December. Wednesday, December 17th, will be the LAST DAY that SWITCH will be open for 2025.

A few weeks ago, SWITCH was invited by USask College of Nursing students MJ and Damond to participate in a community organization open house at Crocus Co-op!✨

The event was well attended, with a ton of other Saskatoon organizations participating to share what services they offer, with lots of very good discussions being made.

We would like to give a warm thank you to MJ and Damond for organizing the event, to Crocus for being such kind hosts, and to our other community organization friends for participating.

What's the best cat allergy medication? An anti-HISStamine!😻

SWITCH has welcomed some very furry and scaly visitors over the past few weeks! Firstly, thank you to Living Sky Wildlife Rehabilitation for letting our community members and volunteers spend some time with a bearded dragon and a bunny rabbit!🦎🐇

Lastly, we wanted to give a shoutout to our amazing Board of Directors for their work in planning and running the Gala!✨

They were hard at work the past few months organizing the event, reaching out to speakers, collaborating with businesses and organizations and institutions, and ensuring our Gala was a night to remember.

This is in addition to their existing work at SWITCH, as well as their academic responsibilities.

We also wanted to express our gratitude to everyone who supports SWITCH. Our organization wouldn’t be where it is today without continuous support from business and healthcare partners, institutions, individuals, and the community.

We couldn't forget to highlight our amazing Gala speakers and emcees!✨

Thank you to Mikaela (SWITCH Volunteer Coordinator) and Mikka (SWITCH Program Coordinator) for being our event emcees, as well as to Jennifer (SWITCH Executive Director) for providing opening remarks!

Next, thank you to Dr. Ryan Meili, Emily Alston-O'Connor, and Toby Esterby for being our notable guest speakers. Your words meant a lot to everyone in attendance, and your support for SWITCH and the community isn't going unnoticed!
