From the very start of the Manor Transition Initiative, our priority has been to keep residents informed, understood, and supported every step of the way. 💖

One of the ways we’ve brought this commitment to life is through bi-monthly suppers. These gatherings give residents the chance to connect directly with Elmwood’s Project Specialist, Linda, while enjoying supper together. During these evenings, Linda shares project updates and answers any questions residents may have. ✨

Earlier this month, residents came together, with Chinese food being their meal of choice, and discussed the exciting progress on their homes. Residents were excited to know that basements are being poured, and Linda walked everyone through what’s next, including the timeline. The next supper is scheduled for the New Year, and we can’t wait to continue these conversations! 🏡📅

Last week, we officially launched the holiday season with one of our favorite traditions – the Kinsmen Christmas Shopping Night, proudly sponsored by the Kinsmen Club of Saskatoon! 🛍🎄

Every November, Elmwood residents and participants head to Lawson Heights Mall to tackle their Christmas shopping lists with the incredible support of our volunteers, the Kinsmen Club, and Elmwood team members. ✨

After shopping to our hearts’ content, we gathered for cookies, drinks, live music and pictures with Santa in the party area. 🎅

This beloved event has been bringing joy for over 20 years, thanks to the generosity of the Kinsmen Club of Saskatoon and all the volunteers who make it possible. It’s truly a highlight for our residents and everyone involved. 💖

It is still 45 days to Christmas so stay tuned for all the holiday fun coming up! 📅

We’re thrilled to share a highlight from this year’s Elmwood Fall Feast - our feature video, CJ’s Journey! 🍂

CJ joined Elmwood in 2008 with the goal to build the skills to live independently. Through hard work and determination, he’s not only achieved that dream but so much more. His mentors will tell you, when CJ sets his mind to something, he makes it happen. ✨

CJ is a gold medalist, proudly earning this title at the 2013 Special Olympics in PyeongChang as part of Team Canada’s Floor Hockey team. Today, you’ll find him playing SOS soccer and floor hockey with the same passion. 🥇

He is known for his many interests, from M&M mascots and Roblox to go-karting and travel, CJ’s enthusiasm shines through in everything he does (and you’ll see it in the video!). 🏎

One of CJ’s biggest milestones has been beginning his gender transition from female to male, with the unwavering support of Elmwood and his SILP mentors. From advocacy and support at medical appointments to transportation for top surgery in Regina, we’ve been honored to walk alongside him every step of the way.
We are so proud of CJ and excited to share his story with you. 💖

There has been lots of exciting events around Elmwood lately, including the annual Elmwood Art Gala! ✨

Each fall, our incredible Recreation team brings together the talents of Elmwood’s Art Club, Photography Club, Drama Club, and Dancing with Katie group to showcase a year’s worth of creativity and hard work. 🎨🎭

This year’s gala opened with a bang as the Drama Club hosted their very own award show! The audience enjoyed video highlights featuring residents from nominees in categories like Best Reality Show, Best Musical, and Movie of the Year - with Survivor, Michael Jackson vs. Zombies, and Fast and the Furious taking home the wins. 🎥

The night continued with a lively performance from the Dancing with Katie group, who lit up the stage with their moves. 💃

Meanwhile, the Art Club and Photography Club filled the space with stunning visuals — paintings, mixed media crafts, and photographs that captured the creativity of residents throughout the season. 🖌📸

It was a night to remember, and we’re already looking forward to what next year’s gala will bring! 💖

Tomorrow is the day! 🎉

We’re thrilled to welcome you to the Elmwood Fall Feast, proudly presented by Affinity Credit Union! It’s shaping up to be an unforgettable night, and we’re especially excited to introduce our two incredible guest speakers. 💖

✨CJ S. joined Elmwood’s Supportive Independent Living Program (SILP) in 2008. Over the past 17 years, CJ has reached countless milestones with the support of our SILP team. Known for his unstoppable determination and vibrant personality, CJ’s story is one of resilience and growth — you won’t want to miss hearing about his journey!

✨Kyle D. moved to one of Elmwood’s Community Homes in 2021 and has been spreading joy and laughter ever since. He proudly calls himself “the happiest person at Elmwood” and loves meeting new people. If you see Kyle at the Fall Feast, be sure to say hello!
