USask CPE has launched Prescribing for Vaccine-Preventable Diseases (VPD) in Canada Training in conjunction with the SCPP updates to vaccine preventable disease prescribing. This course is one of SCPP's mandatory requirements for pharmacists who wish to provide vaccine preventable disease services after May 4, 2026. An updated medSask Vaccine-Preventable Disease in Canada prescribing procedure is now available!

Two new forms are available to support VPD prescribing, a pre-assessment form and pharmacist assessment record (PAR).

To locate the new pages, go to the Pharmacist Prescribing tab of our website. The old link will remain available for 1 month.

Travel Health prescribing remains status quo. An updated travel PAR is available to align with the recently published SCPP Travel Health Services policy.

Travel health information and tools are available separately from VPD prescribing and vaccine administration details have been relocated on our website. The full rebrand for travel health prescribing will be available at a later date.

These pages are free for Saskatchewan pharmacy professionals, but require a subscription to access otherwise.

We have just published our first course focused on pediatrics, 'Tiny Doses, Big Impact: An Introduction to Pediatric Pharmacotherapy for Community Pharmacy.'

This course was created in partnership with the SHA Pharmacy Residency program and a student with the USask PharmD Experiential Learning Program.

This course will cover how to calculate medication dosages for pediatric patients, normal lab values and vital signs, what factors should be considered when selecting drug products, and more!

This course will cover the pathophysiology involved in HCV infection, the protocols and methods for interpreting HCV tests in Saskatchewan, how to monitor patient parameters, and more.

This course will cover topics like modes of transmission, recommended screening guidelines, appropriate diagnostic methods, and standard treatment regimens. The course focuses on chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis.
