Change is hard. I have had to make the difficult decision to cut back on my offerings as a teacher and shift my focus to a new endeavour. This will be my last full week of classes before that happens.

I have so much to say, but I will keep it short. I love teaching and I love the community of students and friends that it has brought me. Thank you for all the things you have brought to my life. You can still find me every Monday night and every second Saturday at Ivy Yoga House. If you can’t make it to those reach out, I want to continue to cultivate the relationships we’ve made.

Within sadness there is always joy and I am so excited to be joining the management team at Citizen Cafe & Bakery!
It’s been one of my favourite places since they opened and it’s a privilege to now be a part of it.

Love to you all. Hope to see you soon ❤️🙏🏻❤️

Why practice yoga in the morning?

Getting up early to practice is hard, especially as the days are getting shorter but there are so many benefits.

For me, setting an intention for the rest of your day is one of the best gifts that come from a morning practice. Allowing yourself time and space to breathe, get clear and set the tone for your day. It allows us to start from a place where we are calm and centred and move into the world with that energy.

It may be hard to get to your mat but once you are there, I promise you won’t regret it.

Gentle Vinyasa is a class where we take the time to move a little slower. Building strength and stability through mindful movement with lots of options so that you can meet your body where it’s at.

This class is great for beginners and seasoned practitioners alike and is offered on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at Ivy Yoga House 9:30-10:30am.

Yoga for Emotional Balance
Every Monday at Ivy Yoga House
8:30-9:45pm

This class is designed to assist in guiding your mental state from extremes like stress, anxiety and depression to a more neutral or balanced state. The focus is on the breath and supported postures that facilitate the development of tools to help keep you calm both on and off the mat. This class is suitable for all levels and is a perfect way to end the day and head into a good nights sleep.

Thank you Jennifer Rondeau for being supportive and keeping our community safe.

From Jen:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"I want to thank everyone for your continued support through this pandemic. It has been a lot for all of us to navigate through. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My top priority is safety, as it has been throughout this past year. With that in mind, we welcomed step 1 and expanded our classes to 14 people (our room capacity is 30). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
July 11th brings another step, the lifting of provincial COVID restrictions. We welcome this step too, and approach it with cautious optimism. I personally feel like we are at a place in this pandemic where we can make our own decisions, the government is no longer required to enforce restrictions upon us. We will maintain some of the restrictions the government put in place because we believe it’s necessary. We will lift some because we strongly believe in the efficacy of the COVID vaccine.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What this means for the studio is that starting Sunday July 11th masks will be optional. Please feel comfortable in whatever decision you choose, mask or no mask. If you arrive without a mask but realize you would feel more comfortable with one, we have disposable masks for your use. You will see many instructors teaching without masks. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We have decided to continue to have 2m between each person and keep the class capacity at 14. This means each member will be 2-3m from other members. We hope this allows some time to get comfortable with the newest masking change. We will continue with our cleaning and laundry processes as well. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Thank you for your continued support. We wouldn't have made it through this without you, whether that was a continued membership, periodic classes, or messages from you showing your support, it all mattered so much to us!"

I get my vaccine tomorrow.
While this post may be controversial I am sharing with you my own personal reflections. Take it as you will.

Like many of you I have contemplated where this virus originated and how we got here. Are these lockdowns effective? Should we be forced to wear masks? Have these vaccines been sufficiently tested? Is there some hidden agenda? Where is the end to it all? Is the truth being withheld?

You can probably find numerous convincing videos and ‘research’ to back up every perspective on our global situation. Meanwhile people are dying, economies are crashing, and the suffering and struggle of people everywhere make my ‘stay at home’ restrictions absolutely trivial.

All choices at their root come down to being guided by either love or fear. Tomorrow I am getting vaccinated against ‘Covid-19’ because for me it is a choice guided by love. If I were to choose NOT to get vaccinated it would be solely out of concern for my own personal well being and fear driven by all the ‘what ifs.’

Vaccination appears to be our quickest way out of this. I cannot allow myself to be overcome with my own personal well-being in times when our collective is facing such hardship. This is not about me, it is about the collective.

I think of the soldier who takes to the battlefield in defense of his people knowing that he may not make it back, even unsure of victory, but regardless he chooses to fight with all his heart rather than sit and wait.

I cannot claim to know what is going down because we are bombarded by media that is influenced by agendas and narratives.
The only thing we can ever know for sure is the intricacies of our heart in any given moment, not to be confused with intricacies of the mind. I will not tell you there is a ‘right or wrong’ choice but If there was ever a wrong choice - it would be the one that is guided by fear. In any moment I will do my very best to choose love.

I pray that things do not return to pre-pandemic normal but that we take this time to reflect on our lives and our systems to shape a new ‘better than normal’ future. When we come out of this, if nothing changes that would be a shame
