Elisa Nyguen

Elisa has been part of the Inner Peace Yoga community since 2017, teaching both in-studio and within the broader IPY family over the years. Her presence is grounding, intuitive, and heart-centered, something students consistently feel the moment they step into her space.

She is a certified Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapist, and is also trained in EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), Reiki, angel card guidance, nervous system regulation, and restorative yoga. Elisa has a special passion for supporting the parasympathetic response, helping clients move out of fight-or-flight and into a state of safety, softness, and deep repair.

Elisa is currently apprenticing under Joelle McDonald within the Connected Movement Therapy certification program. Through this mentorship, she is refining her therapeutic alignment skills, integrated movement therapy approach, and deeper somatic nervous system work.

My 1:1 sessions are 90 minutes of fully individualized therapy combining:

• Critical Alignment Therapy

“Stretch your hips and release your trauma.”

If only it were that simple.

Yes the hips can hold tension.
Yes fascia responds to stress.
Yes gentle movement can soften the nervous system.

But emotional healing isn’t a stretch class.

We don’t “yoga away” trauma.
We don’t force release.
And we certainly don’t bypass the nervous system.

Chronic tension happens when the body adapts to survive:
• long-term stress
• emotional suppression
• postural compensation
• living disconnected from ourselves

Stretching might create space.
But integration requires safety.

That’s where real work happens.

In my sessions, we:
• Decompress and realign the spine
• Retrain deep postural muscles
• Work with fascia intentionally
• Regulate the nervous system
• Gently integrate somatic awareness + EFT

Release doesn’t come from forcing.
It comes from safety + precision + consistency.

Move your body.
Stretch your hips.
Go to yoga.

And also, if you need deeper support, work with someone trained to guide the nervous system properly.

Our Story

Why the Turtle?

The turtle's whole life is one of steadfastness, effort, and patience. It lives a slow and steady life of "non-doing". We believe this also the life of the yogi. The Yoga teachings say that we must cultivate a long, steady practice to have the maximum result (sah tu dirgha kala nairantaira satkara asevitah dridha bhumih Sutra 1:14). Because of its seemingly wide-eyed, long-lived, carefree attitude the turtle is often thought to be the wisest of souls among the animal kingdom. At Inner Peace, we learn from the turtle and move at our own pace as the turtle does. The turtle takes its wisdom one day at a time - not reacting, simply accepting and moving on in its natural methods.

In many Native American folk legends, the turtle represents the earth mother and she is honored for saving mankind from the Great Flood. She is the immortal mother who stoically, silently carries the heavy burden of man upon her thick back. Many species have thirteen sections to their underbelly some sources say this represents each of the thirteen moons, and moons are a celestial symbol motherhood. Among Far Eastern cultures it was believed that the turtle's back symbolized Heaven and that its underside represented Earth. For them the turtle signified the possibility of uniting Heaven and Earth within one's own life.

There is a saying, "Home is where the heart is" - the turtle is always at home within itself.
