A pronghorn with cavitary lesions within the lung lobes containing myriads of fungal hyphae. The fungal morphology is consistent with Aspergillus spp., characterized by parallel-walled, septate hyphae with dichotomous branching. This lesion resembles pulmonary aspergilloma, in which fungal colonies proliferate within pulmonary cavities with minimal tissue invasion. The cavitary spaces likely represent sequelae of chronic bronchitis with bronchiectasis, chronic abscessation, or remote pulmonary infarction. The intrabronchial pigment is most consistent with hemorrhage secondary to fungal infection.
