Are you planning an event? Have you considered the risk of an injury or illness occurring to one of your visitors?

It is very important you consider these emergencies happening, and have the right level of response in place to protected you under the Occupiers Liability Act, and for peace of mind.

When selecting the right provider, it is important that you ask yourself a few things.
▫️Is it the proper level of care for the risk at your event?
▫️Do they have the proper qualifications?
▫️Do they have actual experience to go with these qualifications?
▫️Do they have the proper equipment?
▫️Are they carrying the proper insurance?
▫️Do they have an Ontario licensed medical director allowing them to do
controlled acts?
▫️Do they carry the proper insurance?

There is a significant difference between event first aid services and professional level EMS services. The difference could be costly if an emergency happens and the event organizer is found liable for not having the right level of care on-site. The event organizer can also carry liability if the providers are providing care outside their legal scope (i.e. administering drugs without a medical directive approved by a physician or nurse practitioner in the province of Ontario).

Ask the right questions before booking to ensure you are protected, and to ensure the guests attending your event are receiving the proper care, by experienced medical professionals! Lives depend on it.

👩‍🏫 We are back at it again, enhancing our classroom experience!

Here @ Superior EMS our goal is to provide the best course, and the best experience, which means constantly updating our classroom environment.

We recently introduced 📱tablets for each of our participants to use during the course. Participants can now access the course textbook on the tablet (don't worry we haven't got rid of the physical copies, you get a print copy to take home with you), interactive quizzes throughout the course, and coming soon new simulation learning on the tablets.

Our goal is to continually enhance the learning experience to ensure our participants walk away with the best learning possible. Here at Superior EMS we do not only teach the "how", but the "why" delivered by expert instructors with actual field experience! We have actually done all the stuff we teach in real-life situations. This helps you retain the skills and knowledge needed to save a life.

No "blended" 1/2 online, 1/2 in class learning here! We focus on in-class, hands-on, experiential learning delivered by emergency services professionals! Our instructors have a combined 100+ years experience in emergency medical care.

⚠ Product Safety Warning 🚧

We have been getting a lot of feedback and questions lately about mechanical choking devices. This includes some of our participants being taught by other training providers how to use these devices, and suggesting their purchase in previous classes they took before switching to Superior EMS for their training needs.

These mechanical choking devices are not currently approved by Health Canada, or the FDA in the US. It is important that you only use products that are approved by Health Canada for first aid/CPR. Products approved by Health Canada have been tested for effectiveness, and safety. Both the company who makes them, and the product will have a Medical Device License issued to them once approved.

While one of the distributors had a company Health Canada Medical Device Licence at one point , the product was never approved (and they no longer hold a MDL). They continually deceptively advertised that their product was "Health Canada Approved" when in fact the product itself was never actually approved.

The FDA has also put out multiple warnings about these devices, discouraging their use due to questions into their effectiveness, and potential dangers. This includes lack of suction from the device, facial bruising and damage to the back of the throat. The FDA has gone as far as notifying the leading distributor to stop marketing the products completely in the US (which they have not complied with).

One day there may be an approved device on the market, but until then, please use the established techniques of back blows and abdominal thrusts, and take an approved first aid training program. Delaying proven life-saving intervention to use these un-tested devices puts the casualty at risk!

Thank you again SSM!

In the past two weeks Superior EMS' professional instructors have delivered so many BLS CPR renewals that we have renewed over 400 health care professionals in their CPR skills! Its been busy! And the excitement continues this week with another 150 medical professionals coming through our doors for the best BLS CPR training available in the area including full cardiac arrest simulations using crash carts, advanced simulators, real defibrillators and more.

We have some of the best participants and clients this city has to offer, and we thank you for selecting Superior EMS for your training needs.

Our goal remains to provide the best quality programming, with the most up-to-date equipment so that you walk away confident to save a life. Learn from instructors who have actually done this stuff both in the hospital and pre-hospital environments.
