Dr. Gabor Maté says:
"My definition of addiction is any behavior that gives you temporary relief, temporary pleasure, but in the long term causes harm, has some negative consequences and you can’t give it up, despite those negative consequences. And from that perspective, you can understand that there are many, many addictions. Yes, there is the addiction to drugs, but there is also the addiction to consumerism, there is the addiction to s*x, to the internet, to shopping, to food."
Does this feel familiar or cause you to wonder about your relationship to some of these seemingly benign and socially acceptable behaviours? I have been there.
Have you ever wondered if your choices are actually a way of coping with something bigger? I know I have.
Are you curious what role movement, breath, meditation, and mindfulness could play in finding a more aligned way of coping with life's pressures? I am.
I am looking for participants to join me in the final stages of my Yoga Therapy practicum who are curious to explore these questions with 60 minute sessions, face to face in a relaxed, trauma sensitive, one-to-one, and group dynamic.
If you would be interested in a free first time session, no strings attached, please reach out to me at patricia@peacefulwarrioryoga.ca or https://www.peacefulwarrioryoga.ca/contact
Willing participants will also be offered the opportunity to continue exploring Yoga Therapy as an integrative wellness option at a special introductory rate. No one will be turned away for lack of financial ability.
I look forward to visiting with you.
OM Shanti
