Hello and happy almost summer! I'm here with another update on the COVID-19 and the re-opening protocol for RMTs in Ontario.
RMTs are now able to begin retaking clients, with limitations and restrictions. The benefits MUST out weigh the risks for each individual client. There is also some training that all RMTs must take online (in a module format). Then there's the changes we must make to our clinic setting and the required PPE equipment. As examples: Both the RMT and the client must wear a mask during the entire process, cloth or disposable for the client, surgical/procedural mask for the RMT. There can be no more than one client in the clinic at a time. Rigorous cleaning of all surfaces as well as disinfecting of massage tables, pillows, cushions, etc between each client. There will be new forms and questions asked at each stage of the interaction with your RMT. You will be asked about your health and the possibility of having come in contact with someone sick with the virus at several points beginning with the booking of the appointment.
All that means for me is I won't be opening just yet. In addition to the above, I am the stay at home parent in our household while my spouse has been working out of the house throughout the pandemic. With limited childcare options and the desire to limit our son's exposure, we won't be enrolling him in anywhere new at this time. Although firm plans have not been made, it may be likely that I will not be returning to my clinic until after school starts again.
I'm missing all my clients and colleagues, but for now, I'll be remaining closed. I will definitely keep everyone updated and I am really looking forward to being able to get back to working!
On the plus side, Mane St. Co. will be opening next Monday for hair appointments! I know we are all looking forward to getting our wayward, untamed locks under control again!
