Indigenous Two-Spirit, Transgender, and Gender-Diverse People have always held sacred roles within our communities. Honouring them means protecting their safety, uplifting their voices, and ensuring their leadership is recognized and respected.

During the 16 Days of Activism, we call on all Canadians to stand against transphobia, homophobia, and colonial violence that continue to put Indigenous Two-Spirit, Transgender, and Gender-Diverse People at risk.

Ending GBV means ensuring every relative is safe, valued, and supported.

Naloxone is a drug that can temporarily reverse the effects of an opioid drug poisoning. Once administered, it will begin to work in one to five minutes and stays active in the body for 30 to 90 minutes, meaning it can save the life of anyone at risk of an overdose.

In addition to ensuring individuals carry Naloxone if they use drugs or if they have a friend or family member who does, we encourage those who use drugs to:

- Never use alone
- Go slow
- Know and watch for the signs of an overdose
- Do not run – call 9-1-1

In the event of a drug poisoning, APS frontline officers carry naloxone and want to assist. The Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act provides broad legal protections for anyone seeking emergency support during a drug poisoning, including the person experiencing a poisoning. This means that you will not be charged for offences such as simple possession for calling 9-1-1 in an emergency.

Remember, an opioid-related drug poisoning is a medical emergency. Know the signs of an opioid drug poisoning and call 9-1-1 right away.

PLEASE SHARE.

Wrapped in Awareness Day 4✨

Today’s ribbon reminds us that access to support is not equal for all young people, especially in small communities.

According to Statistics Canada, youth in rural communities often have fewer resources and support, making early education even more critical.

Together, we are creating a community where all young women are believed and protected.

🔴 HIV Awareness Week (Nov 27 – Dec 3):
A global effort to educate on HIV prevention, reduce stigma, and promote support for those living with HIV. We stand united in the fight for a world without HIV. 💪💚

🌿 Indigenous HIV/AIDS Awareness Week (Dec 1-3):
Honoring the strength, resilience, and leadership of Indigenous peoples living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. This week uplifts community voices, promotes culturally grounded harm reduction, and calls for improved access to care for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities. 🧡✨

Together, we work towards healing, equity, and a brighter future for all. 🙌

Wrapped in Awareness Day 3✨

Today’s ribbon aims to spark conversations about the lasting effects of teen dating violence.

According to a study by Women ACT Canada, youth who experience dating violence are more likely to struggle with mental health, lower school achievement, and substance use later on.

Together, we are creating a community where all young women are believed and protected.
