These are called Graston tools, sometimes also referred to as Gua Sha. I use them as a form of soft tissue (or muscle) mobilization. They not only protect my hands as a practitioner but also have a number of benefits to the muscle being treated when used in the 1-2 weeks post-injury stage of healing. Some of these benefits include:
- Promoting blood flow
- Improving tissue pliability
- Increase range of motion
They help to provide a stimulus to help facilitate the healing process and increase fibroblast proliferation. If you have questions come and see me at 15 Great Northern Road or call (705) 257-0400!
