Vasantham’s Mental Health Conference Successfully Concludes

Vasantham is proud to announce the successful conclusion of our conference on The Future of Tamil Wellness and Wellbeing. The event brought together experts, community leaders, and service providers for an impactful discussion on the mental health needs of Tamil Canadians.

The conference featured two major study findings and three powerful presentations, each highlighting critical issues affecting our community and the path forward for better support, access, and awareness.

🩺 Roots and Reach Summit 2025 & Global Health Summit 2025 🌎
July 25–26 | Scarborough Civic Centre

This past weekend, Vasantham Tamil Wellness Centre had the privilege of participating in two powerful events hosted by JMFOA Canada (Jaffna Medical Faculty Overseas Alumni – Canada): The Roots & Reach Summit on Friday, and Tamil Global Health Summit on Saturday.

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Mylashan Mylvaganam for kindly inviting us to table on Friday and present on Saturday. These opportunities were instrumental in helping us raise awareness about our organization, our mission, and the vital work we do to support the Tamil community’s wellness journey.

It was an incredible honour to connect with health professionals, advocates, and changemakers who are advancing health equity for Tamils both locally and globally. 🌱

👏 A special shoutout to Mitherayee Augustine and Sharaniya Satheeswaran, who delivered a thoughtful and engaging presentation on Saturday, helping to amplify the mission and work of Vasantham to a wider audience. We’re also grateful to our Vasantham team for representing us at Friday’s tabling—your efforts were key in connecting with community members and sharing the supports we offer.

We were especially inspired by the energy and passion of the youth attendees—future leaders of the Tamil community—who engaged deeply with the conversations around wellness, mental health, and equity. Their curiosity and commitment give us hope for a stronger, more resilient future.

Events like these remind us of the power of collaboration and shared purpose. We’re excited for what lies ahead and grateful to be part of a growing global movement toward better health outcomes for Tamils everywhere.
