Shoreline Medical Society

Shoreline Medical Society Charitable non‑profit shaping the future of primary care on the Saanich Peninsula — high‑quality, team‑based, equitable, and community‑led.

03/09/2026

On March 7, our community gathered at Centennial Park for a community photo in support of stronger primary care on the Saanich Peninsula, a powerful show of what’s possible when neighbours, patients, providers, and community leaders come together.

Thank you to for capturing the moment, the Central Saanich Lions for hosting the BBQ, for bringing the family fun, Dr. Bourdon and Dr. Gallagher for leading the walk through the park, and the incredible Shoreline staff and board members who helped plan and support the day.

And most of all, thank you to everyone who showed up.
Community keeps us going.

This is what community looks like.
This Saturday, we're coming together for the Shoreline Community Photo & BBQ, and we want YOU in the picture. Every face in this photo is a statement: primary care on the Peninsula matters, and we're behind it.

Details:
- Saturday, March 7 · 3–5 PM, Community Photo at 3:30 PM
- Centennial Park Multi-Sport Box, 1800 Hovey Rd.
- Fundraiser BBQ by the CS Lions
- Games, glitter tattoos & inflatable obstacle course by Panorama
- Trail walk with one of our physicians

This is a moment to show up, be counted, and have a great afternoon doing it. Bring a friend, bring your kids, bring your neighbours. The bigger the turnout, the stronger the message.

You can also help strengthen and grow primary care on the Peninsula by donating to our fundraising campaign, Building Primary Care, Together. Our community has really come through; we're 85% of the way to our $500,000 goal. Help us cross the finish line: https://shorelinemedical.ca/together/

Need care on the Peninsula? Here’s where to start.

If you’re a Shoreline patient and have a health concern that needs attention soon but isn’t an emergency, please call us first. Many issues like earaches, UTIs, rashes, minor injuries, medication questions, or cold/flu symptoms can often be treated faster at our clinic than in the Emergency Department. If you don’t see an appointment on Pomelo, call your clinic directly and our team will help you find the right option.

If you aren’t a Shoreline patient, or we’re closed, here are options for urgent (non-emergency) care on the Peninsula:
🩺Peninsula Primary Care Access Clinic (Island Health)
2170 Mt Newton Cross Rd, Saanichton, BC
Same-day appointments only, no walk-ins
Call 1-833-688-8722 to book

Expanded hours as of Feb 18:
• Monday–Friday 8:30 am – 8 pm (including stat holidays)
• Saturday 8:30 am – 1 pm
• Closed Sundays

This clinic can help with issues like minor injuries, infections, rashes, coughs/colds, headaches, sprains, back pain, and more. Nurses there can also provide wound care, suture removal, and chronic disease support.

☎️ The Provincial After Hours Program: call 1-855-615-7107
☎️ HealthLink BC nurse line: call 811
💊 Your pharmacist may also be able to help

For life-threatening emergencies such as chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe breathing trouble, or major injuries, call 911 or go to the Emergency Department.

Getting care in the right place helps everyone be seen sooner and keeps emergency services available for those who need them most. We’re here for you. 💙

We had a wonderful morning yesterday with the Brentwood Bay PROBUS Group, where our Executive Director, Leslie Keenan, and Brentwood Bay Medical Director Dr. Sienna Bourdon shared updates on Shoreline and the evolving local health system.

It was an incredibly engaged discussion, with thoughtful questions about everything from access to care to how our community can help strengthen primary care on the Saanich Peninsula. We’re deeply grateful to the PROBUS members for hosting us and for their genuine interest in local health care.

If your club, workplace, or community group would like to learn more about Shoreline Medical Society and how you can be part of building primary care together, we’d love to connect. Send us a message to get in touch.

We are heartbroken by the tragic shooting in Tumbler Ridge.

Our thoughts are with the families grieving the loss of loved ones, those who are injured, and the entire community carrying the far-reaching impact of this violence. We are deeply grateful to the first responders and health care teams caring for victims and families.

For those on the Saanich Peninsula and in Greater Victoria, support is available:
• 9-8-8 (call or text, 24/7)
• Vancouver Island Crisis Line: 1-888-494-3888
• VictimLink BC: 1-800-563-0808
• BC211: Call 2-1-1 or visit bc211.ca
• Saanich Peninsula Youth Clinic: Open to all local youth – shorelinemedical.ca/youth-clinic

Shoreline patients can also contact their clinic for access to mental health and social work supports.

If you are in immediate danger, call 9-1-1.

With care,
Shoreline

Saje joined Shoreline as a Medical Office Assistant knowing health care is, at its core, about caring for people. Shoreline’s supportive, team-based culture helped her grow and discover a passion for maternity care.

Now training as a midwife in northern BC, Saje is seeing firsthand why growing and training care providers locally matters. We’re cheering her on every step of the way, and can’t wait to welcome her home 💙👏

🍪 Cookies for a Cause 💙

Lucia White has been baking up a storm this winter in support of Shoreline Medical Society, and we are so grateful.

Each month, Lucia creates a new homemade cookie, available for purchase at Janet’s Special Teas in Sidney, with proceeds supporting primary care on the Saanich Peninsula. Thanks to this delicious initiative, she’s already raised over $1,600 for Shoreline!

This month, Lucia has also put together a beautiful Valentine’s gift basket, with raffle tickets available at Janet’s for $5.

If you’re in Sidney, stop by, treat yourself (or someone you love), and support local care while you’re at it. 💕

Thank you, Lucia, and thank you to Janet’s Special Teas for hosting this fundraiser; community support like this truly makes a difference.

We’re so excited to start welcoming patients to our new family exam room 💫

Designed to help kids feel safe and calm through everyday visits and tougher moments alike, this room helps reduce anxiety, keeps kinds engaged, and supports meaningful parent-provider conversations.

Together, we’re building spaces like this and growing care for more families.
