Our mission is to coach women to move better, eat well and live a sustainable balance lifestyle through movement, education & skill development. ⁣📖🏋️‍♀️

Our vision is to create a space made for women, by women to provide a safe training atmosphere that is judgement free and can allow you to grow, learn & challenge yourself. ⁣🌿

Meet our coaches!

Nina Goode is the head coach/ owner of Excalibur Physiques. She began the business in October of 2019 with virtual coaching and expanded her in person services later that year. She is a Certified Personal Trainer with the International Sports Science Association as well as a Certified Nutritionist. Nina holds an honours diploma in Health, Wellness and Fitness from Mohawk College and has certifications specializing in Ante/Post Natal, Trigger Point Foam Rolling as well as Pre-Script Level 1 & 2. Her current education focus is on the pelvic floor and advanced biomechanics.

Brooklyn Skoog joined our team in December of last year! She is a Certified Personal Trainer with Canadian Fitness Professionals Inc. She is a two time graduate of Mohawk College with a diploma in Health, Wellness and Fitness as well as Mental Health and Disabilities Management. She is currently pursuing education is the field of yoga. Brooklyn specializes in running, strength training, people with disabilities, stretch work and holistic lifestyle coaching.

Transformation time- coach edition xo

Self coached, Brooklyn has guided herself through every part of her health and fitness journey. 💕💪🏼

💚2017-2018
Struggled with weight, confidence and little balance in nutrition. She was not working out at the time and was looking for ways to allow her to feel more comfortable in her own skin.

🩵2019-2021
The approaches she used to feel more confident took her town a different path included restriction of food and working out excessively with led her to develop an ED. Her confidence was low, she struggled to maintain a healthy mindset and felt lost

💛2022-2024
Fast forward to 2022 where she enrolled in the health, wellness and fitness program at Mohawk college and completely changed her mindset around her body. She focused on performance- speed and running as well as yoga. She became the captain of Mohawk’s CC team, worked on her relationship with food, became an ambassador for Modo Yoga and focused on how she felt, not how she looked.

🩷2025
Today Brooklyn is the epitome of balance. She trains 3-4 days a week, runs for enjoyment, practices yoga for mindset and uses the 80-20 rule for nutrition. The days where confidence is low she approaches with grace and continues to work on her mindset.

🤍The reason why you want to lose weight are just as important as how you lose it. Fostering a healthy mindset around fitness and nutrition in a support environments can make all the difference.

Coach Brooklyn is thrilled to start taking on in-person clients at Excalibur and cannot wait to meet her new clients!🥰

What the heck is a pelvic floor?🤔

🤍The pelvic floor is composed of a “sling group” of muscles- levator ani and coccygeus muscle group. This is further divided into the muscles of the pelvic diaphragm, perineal membrane and perineal pouch.

🩵These muscles play a crucial role in supporting your organs, providing stability to the spine and pelvis and maintaining continence. They also require endurance for laughing, coughing, sneezing, lifting, etc.

😓Pelvic floor dysfunction happens when these muscles cannot fully contract or relax on cue. This can happen to any woman whether they have had a baby or not. Common risk factors include poor posture, injury, pregnancy/ birth, asthma/ chronic coughing, heavy lifting, surgery, etc.

😰If ignored, these symptoms can lead to urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, dyspareunia as well as pelvic girdle pain and/ or low back pain.

💪🏼Proper training of these muscles can aid in prevention of issues down the road as well as improving any existing issues.

🫶🏼All of our Post Partum moms are always highly recommended to have a pelvic floor assessment done before we begin training. (I also highly recommend this to our non PP clients as well!) This assessment helps to catch issues early and provide support in and out of training.

To follow up on last week’s post- let’s talk about habits that can make a huge impact.

Some changes that can make a world of a difference include:

💤Creating a solid sleep routine
🧘‍♀️Managing high stress levels
🍏Choosing to focus on balanced nutrition
🥗Focusing on gut health/ digestion
🍷Reducing alcohol intake
🏃🏼‍♀️Get moving!

These changes can feel daunting at first but will allow you to have more energy, mental clarity and will truly reveal itself in physical results. The key is to change one thing at a time to not overwhelm yourself and give yourself grace during the process💖✨

We are so excited to introduce a new fitness program for all the moms and moms-to-be!🤍

Starting on Wednesday, February 5, we will be providing antenatal and postnatal fitness classes in studio every week at the following times:

Antenatal: 11:30am - 12:15pm
Mom & Baby 12:30pm - 1:15pm
Postnatal 1:30pm - 2:15pm

Drop-In Rate: $45 (+HST) per class

All-In Rate: $40 (+HST) per class*
*This option includes 6 classes at a total of $240 (+HST)

These classes are the perfect way to support your mental and physical health as your body goes through pregnancy, childbirth and recovery! Also, with the same group of women in each class, you can find emotional support in other moms going through many of the same changes. The best part is that the classes are in the comfort of a private studio here in Norfolk County!
